Oh and Wu? you beloved puppy fido? Yeah, kinda got into an argument with a truck last year, we've been playing recorded dog sounds for you over the phone. And your little brother? Let's just say Play-do isn't as "non-toxic" as it used to be, that's a Ukranian circus midget we hited to stand in for him. In fact, we're not really your parents-it was a murder-suicide after a messy divorce..".

It would not have mattered, because the Chinese harvest the organs of the loser, they just breed the winners for a new crop of super athletes.

Well that performance was terrible. By the way, your grandparents died.
Oh my God, when?
Right after you failed to medal. Death by disappoint. Next time do better.

In China, athletes are often taken away from their families at a young age and placed in specialist training schools where they practice for hours every day.

You think communist countries need revenue to establish and run slave camps? [hahahaohwow.jpg]

"We accepted a long time ago that she doesn't belong entirely to us," Wu Yuming told the Shanghai Morning Post. "I don't even dare to think about things like enjoying family happiness."

Wu's mother defended the decision to keep her situation private and admitted she only broached the subject of her breast cancer at this point because she is now in remission. Both of Wu's grandparents died more than a year ago, but the diver knew nothing of their passing until this week.

Whats sad is a lot of Chinese think that first quote shows the strength of their system. They focus on winning, not things like happiness. History though shows that once people start losing even a bit of faith in that system, the fact they have no love for it just accelerates its decay.

I wonder if the "Tiger Mom" author has weighed in yet? This sounds like the same "win at all costs" crap she advocates too

Yes, because all athlete parents are those kind of athlete parents.

yes because i'm concerned about the massive rise in overuse injuries in young athletes who are specializing at younger ages every year i must be a failed athete. soild logic there.

No, not even a little bit.

A great many Olympians do what they do because they genuinely love it. Because the kids showed a desire for something, their parents supported them, and they pushed themselves to their limits. Is it good for them in the long run? Maybe not, but there are plenty of hardcore Olympians who go on to lead perfectly normal lives afterwards, and I don't know that they'd trade their accomplishments to save an extra few years before their bodies deteriorate on their own.

Sure there are shiatty parents who push their kids in directions they don't want to go in order to compensate for their own failures, but I highly doubt that amounts to any very significant number of Olympians. And even if it were, neither of those scenarios is anywhere close to being the "same shiat" as the government literally abducting a child and sending them to what amounts to a forced labor camp for sports.

In China, athletes are often taken away from their families at a young age and placed in specialist training schools where they practice for hours every day. Wu began training daily at a diving camp at the age of 6. By the time she was 16, she had left home to be installed in a government aquatic sports institute.

The chinese arent human. they are robots.

Well when your response lacks even a simple denial the assertion gains that much more legitimacy.
