It's very difficult to get riled up about this in either direction. This is incredibly boring drama.

Well, it is emblematic of all the failures of the Jimmy D. Weakbama administration.

Loan your lawnmower to a neighbor. He leaves it in the garage and moves away. New guy moves in, and gives you your lawnmower back.

Obviously the new guy has done something horrible that proves he's a bad person. I'm just trying to figure out what it is. It's got to be something.

Nobody gives a flying fark about a bust of Winston Churchill.

I am 50 years old. I've been paying varying degrees of attention to politics since I was in my teens.

This is the stupidest "controversy" I have ever seen, or at least can recall. The fact that administration resources are being wasted on this ridiculousness is criminal.

Movement conservatives are stupid and deserve scorn and ridicule. I'm also pissed that the Administration responded to this at all. The most it deserved was a "are you freaking kidding me with this crap?"

2012-08-01 01:55:47 PM
The bust that was returned was returned as a matter of course with all the other artwork that had been loaned to President Bush for display in his Oval Office and not something that President Obama or his Administration chose to do.

Oh, so Obama was returning something that was loaned to the last guy who couldn't find it in himself to return it. I can see why this is such an outrage to the authors/defenders of the "How much for another war? Screw it, grandkids are payin' for it. Hell, while we're at it, let's cut more taxes!" mentality.

Step 2: Cry about cover up of non-issue because Whitehouse really isn't paying attention
Step 3: Bemoan some more
Step 4: Get Apology from Whitehouse on non-issue
Step 5: Continue Blogging career -creating issues from non-issues
Step 6: Profit $$$

Ok, I'll enlighten those of you in the "intellectual party" who obviously have no idea what this is regarding...

Krauthammer criticized Pfeiffer and Obummer administration for returning a bust of Churchill to the Brits.

Pfeiffer vigorously denied Krauthammer's claim that the White House had returned a bust of Winston Churchill to the British Embassy, knowing full well that it had. He lied to try to make Krauthammer look like an a-hole thinking no one would look into it. It was a dick move and he got caught.

It's all much ado about nothing but as usual there's more to this story than "OBAMA returned a bust! What's the big deal!! Repubs are all baby-killing homphobic racists!" *BONG RIP*

And that concludes this years post in FARK politics tab, you may now resume saying "DERP" to each other and having a liberal circle jerk.

The controversy, in case you haven't read any of the articles, wasn't about a bust. It was the fact that the White House made such a point of calling Krauthammer a liar. Here's his own comment about it (prior to the White House fellow breaking down and telling the truth for the first time):

"In my view, this whole affair was completely unnecessary. Pfeiffer devoted an entire post (with accompanying photography) on the White House Blog to a single sentence in a larger argument about foreign policy, and blew it up into an indignant defense of truth itself and a handy club with which to discredit the credibility of a persistent critic of his boss. (After all, why now? Why this column? Since the return of the Oval Office Churchill in 2009, that fact had been asserted in at least half a dozen major news outlets, including Newsweek, CBS News, ABC News, the Telegraph and The Washington Post.)"

So it's not just about Obama snubbing our allies, its about his rabid attack dogs getting caught lying and more so about Obama's people attacking and belittling others when they make the grave mistake of actually telling the truth.

Pay more attention and you'll figure this stuff out on your own one of these days.

The controversy about the Churchill bust long predates Krauthammer's column. It dates back to at least April of 2011, when Snopes first put up an article. Link

Perhaps you knew that, and were just being dishonest, or perhaps you just need to "pay more attention".
