Yes, it's no secret that they're going to be outraised this time around. Sheldon Adelson and Karl Rove are going to make sure crazy amounts of money are going to be thrown Romney's way. Typically, the candidate with the most money wins. Sad, but true. Obama's team is just trying not be be outspent 2 or 3 to 1. Or more.

If Obama is terrifically outspent AND he still manages to win the election, I can only imagine what the Republicans and the right wing of the Supreme Court have cooked up for 2016.

"New rule: citizens and corporations can donate unlimited money to Republican candidates, and $5 max for all other candidates."

Obama could solve all his money problems by promising a crazy casino billionaire that the Justice Department won't look into his shady dealing with foreign governments.

Oh wait, Romney already scooped him up.

The e-mails and texts on their own don't say "desperate" to me. If you're not sending out at least one e-mail per day to your supporters, you're not maximizing your fundraising potential, especially when most of your funds are donated in small amounts across a vast swath of people.

So I guess it would make sense that Mitt's campaign wouldn't send out as many e-mails. He's fundraising mainly through a few big money donors.

He doesn't have to; most of his supporters are hooked on forwarding chain emails.

Direct, unlimited contributions to specific candidates is the next logical step. I wouldn't be surprised at all if there's a suit brought before the court in a couple of years for that purpose.

It'll happen whether the GOP wins this round or not.

I think the right was caught off guard and was a little unnerved by the complete lack of control resulting from a rule allowing unlimited donations to organizations collateral to a campaign but not the campaign itself.

So yeah I think that is the next logical step.

Try to imagine the WSJ or Fox's site printing a similarly toned article about Romney were the table reversed. My guess is that it would be "Romney camp does more, with less" or something along those lines. Stupid liberal New York Times.

Seriously. I can't wait until we get this country back on track. What we need is another multimillionaire white male back in the White house. When will this country learn that the only way we can survive as a nation is to spend on defense, cut taxes for the wealthy, and keep white multimillionaires in the white house? It should be obvious by now.

Last time around, people gave to Obama because Bush was in the White House and they didn't want another President who was essentially Bush.

This time around, since Obama's in the White House, they've become complacent. What they don't seem to realize is that there's a possibility that that will result in us having another President who will essentially be Bush.

2012-08-01 02:39:36 PM
What scares me about Citizens United is that if it can even make this election between Obama and Romney a close one, what will it do to local and state elections? The billionaires and corporations might lose this Presidential election but in the long term they will own everything from the grass roots up to the top. I feel fortunate that I don't have any children. This world is not going to be a nice place down the road.

About two thirds of the emails I get from them are asking for cash to prevent Obama from winning a second term, which will enable him to assemble his legions of communists to march across the nation paying waste to everything in their path and that the US will soon cease to exist unless I send money NOW.

The remainder of the emails are a grab bag of FW:FW:FW: newsletters, BUY GOLD HERE and investment scams.

I routinely get fundraising emails from political campaigns, which I normally ignore. This morning, however, I got an email titled "Outspent," that began "Scott -- It's deadline day. We're down to the last few hours..."

For a brief moment, I thought I had screwed up a deadline for a no-cost extension or some such, and my students were about to lose their funding. UP YOURS, PEOPLE ASKING FOR MONEY.

So yeah, I definitely noticed a change in email solicitations, not just in number but in their tenor.

You are such a goddamn idiot.

"Obama recovered the economy, but not very well at all."
"Certain kinds of unemployment prevail under Obama!"
"If you overlook the fact that the economy hadn't finished bottoming out until Obama had been in office six months into his term, then poverty has gotten worse under Obama!"

"Mitt Romney plans to increase jobs by reducing taxes on rich people, increasing taxes on poor people, reducing regulations, by increasing trade with China, by "drill baby drill", by eliminating unions, by eliminating government jobs training programs, and by cutting government spending. Yes, each and every one of these policies has been proven to increase jobs. No really. They really have. Would we lie to you?"

By pretty much every metric, the economy is is better shape than it was when Barack Obama took office.

Not even (difficulty: intellectually honest) conservatives can disagree with that. That's why the whole tone has changed to "It's not recovering fast enough," you would be wise to brush up on your talking points.

That said, the suggestion by conservatives begs the question that their policies would have resulted in a faster recovery. I'll issue to you the same challenge that I have issued every other conservative, if you dare take me up on it (no one ever has). Namely: The economic policies of the George W Bush administration at best failed to prevent, and at worst cause the economic collapse of 2008. If Republicans are to suggest that they could have ushered a faster recovery than President Obama, surely they can't suggest that they would do so by just continuing his economic policies right? Therefore, I challenge you to name 4 ways that the Mitt Romney economic policy differs from George W Bush. What 4 things will he do differently from his ideological predecessor to bring a more speedy recovery? If you can name them, I will vote for Mitt Romney.

I eagerly await your response.

Therefore, I challenge you to name 4 ways that the Mitt Romney economic policy differs from George W Bush. What 4 things will he do differently from his ideological predecessor to bring a more speedy recovery? If you can name them, I will vote for Mitt Romney.

I eagerly await your response.

What exactly was it that Obama has done to improve the economy.

Yes. Better shape.

Explain what the Republicans would have done better, other than not dragging their heels in Congress, desperately trying to stop Obama from getting anything meaningful done.

And now, you'd like to hire more Republicans because they did such a good job hamstringing the president.

It's amazing that you guys believe this. Will this be your excuse for his 2nd term also? I hope not. Why waste another 4 years blaming Republicans for failures of Obama. If you so foolishly believe Republicans are 'hamstringing' Obama, will his 2nd term will be different? Good luck.

Americans are tired of Obama's excuses. They should vote for Romney.

phaseolus: phreezen: phaseolus: phreezen: Lando Lincoln: phreezen: I hope for America that people will vote for Romney.

Give us some reasons why.

Is change a good reason?

Under Obama:
Bad economy
unemployment
poverty

Weird. I see us being in better shape now than we were when he took office, and I don't see any coherent plans from the Repubs detailing how they plan to do better.

You don't honestly believe that all the jobs lost during the collapse had disappeared......... FOREVER, did you?

Better shape?

"A year from now, I think people are going to see that we're starting to make some progress," Obama says. "If I don't have this done in three years, then there's going to be a one-term proposition."

Buh-Bye, Barry.

Yet he's accomplished quite a lot, which is especially remarkable considering your team is actively trying to hold the economy back and doesn't have a plan beyond campaign ads showing lots of sad brown faces with mournful music playing in the background.

Romney's got nothin'.

Best part.............. FOUR MORE YEARS

now let me ask you about your religion,

You see, we are here, as far as I can tell,
to help each other - our brothers, our sisters,
our friends, our enemies. That's to help each other,
not hurt each other. Sometimes, to help them, we've got to help ourselves,
so that we'll know that they're around in the first place. You see,
it's a big world out there with enough pain and misery in it,
without me going around and helping it out by hurting myself,
and consequently, those that care about me.
What I'm trying to get across to you is: Please take care of yourself
and those that you love, because that's what we are here for,
that's all we've got, and that is what we can take with us.

you have to know who said that. my question is do you honestly believe, religiously, that the political choices you have made reflect the words of your religious leader?

I remember they said the same thing about John Kerry having 322. How did that turned out?

The same Kerry who lost to an incumbent?

K. You trollin' hardcore. I feel bad for you, though. You have to stump for Romney. I hope you're at least getting paid for it.

Obama did spend a pretty penny to achieve that. I guess the free houses and unicorns is also what you and Obama believe in. Thank GOD they rejected his mortgage plan. Hey, no smoke and mirrors there.

You were never in it for debate. Just like Lando Lincoln, you just wanted to hate on anything Republican.

Think what you want, but Americans don't believe Obama did well at all with the economy or unemployment. Good luck on trying to sell that lie to America.

How dare you accuse me of that, sir. I have never said anything bad about any Republican, ever! All I said was perhaps you were trolling because hugram posted a whole bunch of pertinent information, to which you responded with "it's all smoke and mirrors and part-time census workers." However, I proceeded to bash my head against the hardest thing I could find, and now I agree with you.

In fact, your brilliant debate tactics motivated me to yell at some liberals at their "universities" for their idiotic fact-based analyses, and you know what? They threw this smokey-mirrory thing at me, and I need your help:

Obviously, I tried telling them that CBO just meant "Callously Building Obamanomics" but they won't believe me, so help me out here: how should I deny this fact-based lie?

Lando Lincoln: phreezen: How did Bush manage to get his agenda through and Obama can't? Quit blaming Republicans for Obama's failure. So 4 more years of blaming Republicans is what you are voting for?

Bush managed to do it because the Democrats in Congress are spineless weenies. Are you new to this country?

I'm voting for getting rid of all members of the GOP so we can actually get some more useful stuff done.

You keep voting Republican. That's working out so well for us.

Bush also had a Republican controlled House and Senate for six years that became known as "The rubber stamp Congress" lead by Tom "The Hammer" Delay that spent about a Trillion dollars in "Emergency Spending" to keep it off the books. But hey, what does reality have to do with anything?

Hey, listen. I don't appreciate you lying with graphs like that. It shows Clinton having the lowest spending! It should be (from lowest spending to highest): Reagan, Bush I, Bush II, Clinton, Obama. It's unsourced and us Republicans believe anything anyways, so might as well make it RIGHT.

I don't trust you anymore, man. You've changed. I thought we could teabag around and tell people to vote for R-.... tell people to vote for Rom..... ....... UUUGGGHHH

Ok, ok... hold on. Tell people to vote AGAINST Obama. But if you're going to spread lies like all Republican presidents in the past 30 years spent more than the Democrats, I'm afraid I'll have to take my teabags elsewhere.
