(Washington Post)   Mitt Romney's tax plan cuts taxes for the wealthy, pays for them by raising taxes on the rest of the people. Or pretty much the same republican tax policy as always   (washingtonpost.com) divider line 14

And before someone says "it is the same plan as the last two decades and it hasn't worked" STOP AND THINK WHAT YOU'RE SAYING.

The wealthiest few percent NEED a heavily impoverished workforce so that they can score cheaper labor.

The wage the workforce can command goes down, the money into the pockets of the investors goes up. The more "on the edge" the workforce lives, the harder you can work them for less and less, because they'll scrape and scream to keep what they have.

It has worked FINE for the last couple decades, and it will continue working just fine.

The people who think it's not working just don't understand the end goal.

A rich man who is hiding his own tax returns and wants to cut taxes for the rich even more. It's like the GOP is running a cartoon villain for president.

randomjsa: So let me see if I have this correct.

The Bush tax cuts that you keep crying about. That Obama says he wants to extend for everyone making less than 250k.

Raised taxes on everyone but the rich?

You missed the point dumbass (as usual):

None of it helped Romney. His rate-cutting plan for individuals would reduce tax collections by about $360 billion in 2015, the study says. To avoid increasing deficits - as Romney has pledged - the plan would have to generate an equivalent amount of revenue by slashing tax breaks for mortgage interest, employer-provided health care, education, medical expenses, state and local taxes, and child care - all breaks that benefit the middle class.

"It is not mathematically possible to design a revenue-neutral plan that preserves current incentives for savings and investment and that does not result in a net tax cut for high-income taxpayers and a net tax increase for lower- and/or middle-income taxpayers," the study concludes.

Even if tax breaks "are eliminated in a way designed to make the resulting tax system as progressive as possible, there would still be a shift in the tax burden of roughly $86 billion [a year] from those making over $200,000 to those making less" than that.

But I will not stop you from nailing yourself up on that cross like you always do.

God Is My Co-Pirate: vpb: We've already waited 30 years for the wealth to start trickling down, if we give up now, all that will have been for nothing.

I forget the technical term, but that is a genuine way of thinking that our brains tend to want to do, in spite of our best interests.

Ah, here we go: sunk cost fallacy, and "irrational escalation of commitment". Link

Bob16: Hershey Highway Patrol: You know a small part of me hopes that Rmoney does win just to watch the Republican base take one in the arse. The blow back from yanking those middle class perks would be awesome.

The repubs have been farking the wimpy amerikan middle class and the poor for 30 years and got voted in by a landslide 2 years ago. You can fark the loser amerikan public all you want and not have to worry. They are the stupidest people on the planet.

That's because we respond to fear and anger more easily than we pragmatically consider our future, both as individuals and as a society. We'll gladly line up to be abused if it means our gay neighbor won't get any "special" rights, Shaniqua can't get any prenatal care, and that asshole at Macy's is forced to say "Merry Christmas" instead of "happy holidays." I don't have time to consider the real consequences of a candidate's platform when I got all these Muslims to keep an eye on.

You can expect 'Job creators' with a side of 'skin in the game'

You know I have this weird thing that when I hear or read job creators my brain processes it as lying theiving pigs.

It always reminds me of that part in the Bible where it talks about not worshiping false idols.
