There the DNC goes again, saying Paul Ryan wants to change Medicare as we know it, when all he wants to do is change it from a guarantee to a voucher program. It's still called Medicare people!!

//Am I doin' it right?

Republicans are also striving to convert Medicaid into a block grant program, she said. As a result, seniors who rely on Medicaid benefits to pay for nursing home care will no longer be able to afford their bills.

Maybe we should be afraid?

They will still vote republican, so the right isn't afraid.

As kids we fear many unknown and boogity things. As we age we lose those fears. Why? Because we pass enough mornings waking up that it didn't happen. We read, we converse, we begin to see a broader world for what it is. In effect, we grow up.

Enough days have passed, people. Grow up on both sides please so we can have less fear based politics and more broader world politics.

Well, you can't really do, "Think of the future" with senior citizens in old age homes when the future is limited to only a few years. ("Think of the future generation!" "I am going to be dead within five years so, screw those whippersnappers.") Plus, seniors are some of the most selfish, stubborn, "I've got mine." people. They make your average "I want it" teenager look like a Franciscan monk. You can't really appeal to their compassion for their fellow man. So, "fear" it is.

Nothing bad happens when you remove a social safety net. Everybody knows that. The Dems like to talk big about caring for their fellow man as a component of a cohesive modern society, but the best way to care for your fellow man is to screw them over at every available opportunity, like Kato and Inspector Clouseau. It makes them tougher, more adaptable, and better able to execute complex pratfalls. THOSE are real American values.

Somebody has to educate the voting public about Romney's plans and the content of Paul Ryans budget, because Romney and Ryan are sure not going to let anybody know.

Does Romney support Ryan's Medicare plan?

Is Romney willing to go to Florida and try to sell Ryan's plan to the retirees there?

They might be ok with it because theyre getting Medicare as is.

Its young people like me who are being shafted by having to pay for my parents to use this program now and then not be able to use it because it will be replaced with something subpar (regardless of how much Ryan tries to convince me it isnt) where I will have to pay even more into Medicare than my grandparents and parents did.

For all that whining about our childrens future, you sure dont give a shiat about the fact that we are going to get shafted with your BS plan.

Obama hasn't ended all the wars Bush started yet, which is bad because Dems don't really like war very much and therefore they don't savor or appreciate them like Republicans do. This tongue-in-cheek display observes that Obama is engaged in wars ironically, almost hipster-like, approaching these conflicts in a way that's grating to common-sense Republicans. He appears to take so little visible joy in blowing up brown people that one starts to wonder what's the point.

That's not "new hotness", waging a campaign of fear mongering against people who are less informed has been common practice by the Democrats for the last 50 years, including a series in 2004 from the Rock the Vote group that told absolute bald faced lies to scare 18-24 year old college students in to thinking there was a military draft coming if Bush won reelection. The "Republicans are going to take away your SS checks and throw you on the streets to starve!" lie is decades old.

No, but if someone announced that they intend to put your arm into a wood chipper, it shouldn't be considered alarmist for someone to point out that it might be a bad thing.

Well, that and the shiatty administration total fark-up of everything they touched from the historic expansion of Federal Government, the historic increase in the deficit and budget even while keeping 2 wars off the books, the Patriot Act, ignoring 5th amendment rights, federal interjection into a citizen's right to end the life of his brain-dead wife, secret energy meetings with Big Oil, no-bid contracts to oil buddies and criminal civilian contractors...

The crazy thing is that they started pushing the "Obama is a bloodthirsty warmonger!!!1!" talking point because he increased troop levels in Afghanistan and sent SEAL Team 6 into Pakistan to take out OBL -- things he said he'd do before he got elected.

I'm 50. I don't think Ryan's plan will address the medical issue I could face. Actually, I think it could be disastrous for me. If I were to assess risks, I'd say the Ryan plan poses a greater risk to my wellbeing than, say, reducing our aircraft carrier battle group fleet by one.
