Really negative.

Someone fetch Mitt's fainting couch.

Is repeating your opponents words, verbatim, in context really a negative ad?

He can't run on his record , all he can do is try to attack Romney.

Sometimes it works for a while in the polls, but when comes down to voting it's always a losing strategy.

Well that does it, I'm voting for Romney!

Not really. Negative ads have been proven to work time and time again.

Ads that don't show Rmoney as a better, richer, whiter alternative to Brock "Kenyan Murder Machine" Obamson are negative by definition.

When Republicans say it, they're just "asking questions". When Obama says it, he is a radical socialist Muslim bent on destroying America with the help of Hillary Clinton, George Soros and the Stimulus Package.
/so vote Republican

When two gentlemen can come to an agreement like McCain and Obama sorta did, then their campaign and Palin go all nuclear, I say you have to defend yourself...

So in short, fark you, I don't want my president going into a gun fight with both hands tied behind his back

Don't the right wingers always say that MSNBC is the Fox News of "the left"? Wonder how they'd explain this piece of "journalism".

Depends on what the negativity is.

"HURR OBAMMER IS A SEKRIT MOOSLIM" generally doesn't work.

"Can you trust somebody who can't remember how many houses he owns" usually does.

in order for the negativity to really work you gotta also complain about the liberal media conspiracy so it can't be disputed, amirite??

The Republicans want Obama to be hobbled. They want him to be an "honorable" man. It is much easier to tear down an honorable man if you are a dishonest asshole.

2012-08-01 12:21:13 PM
If you promised not to "go negative" against Mitt Romney, you wouldn't even be able to say his name out loud. Everything about him is negative.

2012-08-01 12:21:36 PM
I wouldn't have made the promise either. The super PACS run the show, but anything bad they put out will be cognitively connected to Obama, resulting in a broken promise whether he meant or tried to keep it.

2012-08-01 12:21:36 PM
It is incredibly unfair for republican presidential hopefuls to have such petty things as their action and words placed on display when everyone the only things that matter is how awful the democrat candidate is, for instance did you know that Obama is not a republican? Such acts are shameful and anti American, he must be voted out before he can do more damage to America.

So, let me get this straight:

Obama is supposed to be above this sort of thing, so that means you should vote for his less experienced, dim-witted, out-of-touch, even MORE negative opponent?

It actually just means that it's extra super-true and you, Mr. Liberal, simply can't deny how truthful it is because it's not coming from your demon FOX News. Go ahead, I dare you to challenge your liberal heroes at MSNBC on this. I love watching liberals turn on each other!

/or something more or less to that effect.

I believe, yes, I do believe I have rage.
Especially in context of all the secret-Muslim, kenyan born, he's a near president in the Black house bullshiat we've had to put up with for 4 years.

Ah yes, so when the Romney attack ad sphincter is teed up to take a giant deuce on your face in front of the entire world, you should just stick to positive.

Makes perfect sense.

Let's go with this. What part of Romney's record is he (Romney) running on?

I'm not talking about Romney's rhetoric. I want to know what part of Romney's record is worth running on.

Difficulty level: "he's better than Obama" is not a sufficient answer.

How can you not go negative against this buffoon?

Playing wizard of oz with tax returns.
Wants to start another war.
I believe "mitt the twit" was used on his trip.

Man the fark up rich boy and Republicans. You elected this shiat sandwich so don't be surprised when people are coming out and saying "I wont eat that shiat sandwich."

Taking over the massive failure of the 2002 Olympics and turning it around; $400 million budget deficit to a $100 million surplus. There's a start.

Conservative logical is undeniable.

Moosecakes: Not really. Negative ads have been proven to work time and time again.

Sometimes.

But Obama's primary strength is that he is a GOOD guy, full of hope and optimism. His appeal is an appeal to the country's better nature.
He's weak on the economy, he's distancing himself from his primary achievement in Healthcare, and while he is fine on international, he hasn't done much really revolutionary other than complete the death of Bin Laden.

By going negative in a big way, he may be damaging his primary value proposition. He won because people LIKE him. He won becasue he was POSITIVE.

Running a steady campaign of accusations, semi-slander, blame-shifting, and negativity.may hurt Romney, but over time it may make people start to think he's a dick.

And that hurts him more.

They aren't allowed to say his name as that is an attack and bias from the media.......somehow.

I'll be voting for Obama for the 2nd time in November and I agree, it will be hard to run on his record. The tide is turing on the AHA and it will be quite popular, but not in time for the election. I've lost track of the consecutive months of job growth, but it should be better (mainly due to Republican obstructionism). He has done well, as well as he could, but takes a nuanced approach to explain it, and sadly the typical voter doesn't want to pay any attention to that.
