The Vikings are a mile behind any of the three other teams in that division.

I think it'll end up Packers, Bears, Lions, and then Vikings, though the top three are only separated by an injury or two.

Nothing wrong with believing in your own team. Even if the chances are slim.

I wouldn't be surprised if both wild card teams came out of the NFC North. I would project them to finish with about 4 wins this season.

a Vikings all-star team formed from their best players the past 10 seasons might have a chance.

I wouldn't be at all shocked if the Vikings didn't win a single game inside their division this year.

considering the team he has and his expectations, I won't be surprised to see Leslie Frazier fired at the end of the season

This division is going to be great this year. Except for the Vikings. Still they might knock off a few opponents before Peterson goes down due to overuse.

Tony Dungy, Mike Tomlin, Leslie Frazier. When the Vikings finally do promote their black DC to head coach they pick the wrong one

Every year in the NFL two or three teams come from nowhere to have really good seasons, when all the experts write them off during training camp. It could be the Vikes this year ...

... if Peterson is healthy and has a fantastic season,
... if Ponder makes huge strides and improves in his second season,
... if the O-line and defence come together and overachieve,
... aaannnd if the other three teams in their division are wracked by injuries.

For all this to fall in place, maybe a 5% chance for 9+ wins?

The bears and vikings will be fighting for 3rd place.

While I do love their unavoidable choke jobs, I hate the Queens so much I hope they go 0-16 forever.

Except for that basketball team (The Grizzlies? Twolves?) where the owner admitted publicly that they weren't going to try for a title, when has anyone involved in any sports franchise not expressed bland optimism when questioned about the future by the press?

/excepting pissed-off players at postgame pressers

My favorite version.

Do they have an offensive line that can keep Ponder from getting hit on every play?

Did they move to the AFC South?

No? Then not happening.

Well subtard, "Expect" in this case obviously means "I will always hold this team to a high standard".

I got this team winning 5 games at best. If we sniff 8-8 throw a god damned ticker tate parade.

I know it was just a relatively meaningless regular season game, but the Greg Lewis call still gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.

And the Joe Buck one just pisses me off and makes me hate Joe Buck even more.

Looking forward to seeing their new jerseys this year. I hear they feature lace piping and a richer, gayer purple.

The Vikes will be in hot contention with themselves for 4th place in the NFC North.

Yep. Just like that Panthers (?) player who paid for an ad saying his team will win the Super Bowl.

That's why you're playing. You have to go into each game thinking you can win. Every single game.

I'm a Saints fan. And while they *are* a favorite to make the playoffs... I don't care if they're a 3-13 quality team... I would not want any exec coming out and saying "I think we can maybe be an 8-8 team this year".... ever.

It felt good to be on the RIGHT side of a Brett Favre comeback for once.

G who could stop them.

Yes, that's a statement not a question.

As much as I love the vikes I'm not holding out hope for anything better than 6-10 this season. Now if everybody else in the division goes 5-11 I guess Zygi might be right?

I'm encouraging my son to be a Vikings fan so he will know humility.
(At least it won't be as bad as the Les Steckel 1984 season; so bad Bud Grant had to come out of retirement)

Its the NFL, you never know.

They dont have Jay Cutler starting for them, so thats ONE team they are going to finish ahead of.

/unless Cutler gets hurt or benched... then they are likely headed for the cellar.
