Those may well be the major impediments to growth in, say, Jordan. However, the largest impediment to growth in Palestine, according to the World Bank and the IMF, is the Israeli occupation. Yep, in the mid-19th century. The first three "estates" were coined about half a millennium earlier, to cover the clergy, nobles, and townsmen - the "fourth estate" originally represented the public opinion, which has no owners, no accountability, and which scares the crap out of the ruling classes. It's been pinned, on a regular basis, to lawyers, mobs, and, lastingly, to the press.

You point out that Obama is wealthy, which nobody disputes. Nobody vilifies Warren Buffett for his wealth, nor Bill Gates, nor Oprah. So it raises the question, why aren't people "outraged" by their wealth? The answer is fairly obvious: folks aren't outraged by wealth per se.

Romney's wealth isn't offensive in and of itself, it's offensive because of how he acquired it (Bain, "vulture" capitalism, etc.), how he maintains it (ref. tax returns questions, offshore accounts and so forth), and how it isolates him from the very people he purports to represent ("you people", the infamous waiters remark, etc.)
