Every time I've seen Cuba Gooding Jr. in an interview he seems like a genuinely nice guy. I don't know how he managed to tank his career so fast and so thoroughly, but I'd probably be an angry person if I was him.

Another article describes him as "shoving" the bartender. I'm wondering how severe the assault was, or if he was just trying to keep people away from him.

I can't seem to find any articles naming the bar. Best I can come up with is 200 block of Bourbon. Well, the streets of New Orleans are much safer with this rogue in NOPD custody.

Lol, I just saw him this afternoon. I presume he's in town filming because, well, everyone films down here these days.

This dude made some really, really stupid career choices. After Jerry Maguire and Good as it Gets he could have been respected. But he chose retard instead.

The 200 blk. is the same one that Galatoire's is on, but I can't recall what clubs are there. They seem to change names monthly and besides, you know locals don't hang out there.

As for your other comment, I get the impression you're saying it's not a big deal? I mean, the law is the law. If someone makes a complaint and there's some sort of supporting evidence, is NOPD supposed to completely ignore it? The fact that I saw him on the street today suggests either the cops don't care too much, or that he was in and out of jail immediately.

And yet Pacino had to take an honorary Oscar for Scent of a Woman.

Even nice people turn into assholes at 3am on Bourbon St. It's the rule, not the exception. That's what happens when a street exists solely to host the entire world's frat boy drinking fantasies. I'm not talking about normal, "Hey, let's grab some drinks and have a good time." I mean the, "WWWOOOOOOOOOOH LET'S GET F****CKED UP!!!!!" kind of mentality.

Also, other articles suggest that Gooding was irritated by people trying to take photos of him. Well, guess what man...you're a celebrity who opted to hang out on a street teeming with drunk people. What the fark did you think was going to happen? If you wanted something more laid-back and respectful, you should have picked one of the local bars on the side streets.

And Dances With Wolves beat out Goodfellas. Good lord, man. I recently watched Dances With Wolves again, and while it's a good flick it's really just kind of a maudlin, syrupy movie. And then there's motherfarking Goodfella's, man!

Easy there. Just a bit of snark. They generally don't hold someone indefinitely on a misdemeanor battery charge. I think this allegedly happened a week ago? I'm skeptical.

Chanel 6 reported it as The Old Absinthe House

From WDSU.com:

Gooding got into an altercation with a bartender at The Old Absinthe House on Bourbon Street about 3 a.m.

Police said that the actor became upset when he was recognized and patrons began taking pictures.

The altercation climaxed when the bartender asked Gooding to leave and he allegedly shoved the bartender against the wall.

Shoving? Also isn't battery when you threaten someone, assault is when you physically touch someone.

You can't go around shoving bartenders even if assholes are taking your picture. A non-famous person would have just been shown the door. Face first.

Came to see i wasn't the only one who loves this movie, leaving satisfied.

/The Navy Diver is not a fighting man, he is a salvage expert. If it is lost underwater, he finds it. If it's sunk, he brings it up. If it's in the way, he moves it. If he's lucky, he will die young, 200 feet beneath the waves, for that is the closest he'll ever get to being a hero.

Yeah, I wanted to make sure that one of his good movies was mentioned in addition to the crap. I rather like him in dramatic roles, it's the comedies he's no damn good in.
