(Gizmodo)   Amazingly, the new HOTMAIL may be the best email service out there, but switching to it will never eliminate the stigma of being trapped in the year 1998   (gizmodo.com) divider line 117

Tried it and it SUCKED!

I can't send a single email with this Microsoft crap of an app. Outlook tells me to verify a Captcha, but it fails every time - even though it is correct. I attempted to verify my account using my cell phone, but got an error to try again later.

Back to Gmail I guess.

I don't really care what th web interface is like, because I never use it.

To me, my GMail account is just an address, one that I'd like to remain the same for as long as possible. But I do all my email through IMAP using email clients on my computer or phone.

Cooper420: Even the linux community can't attack the thousands upon thousands lines of code Microsoft had developed!

Are they saying that this linux can run on a computer without windows underneath it, at all ? As in, without a boot disk, without any drivers, and without any services ?

That sounds preposterous to me.

If it were true (and I doubt it), then companies would be selling computers without a windows. This clearly is not happening, so there must be some error in their calculations. I hope they realise that windows is more than just Office ? Its a whole system that runs the computer from start to finish, and that is a very difficult thing to acheive. A lot of people dont realise this.

Tried it, doesn't work. Everything I click on nothing happens.

Seems they fail at cross browser compatibility.

Also seems it picked up my live account and logged me in through that!

have had my hotmail account since 98. I actually have two since 98 that I still use. I don't get much spam in those accounts luckily, but I have a Yahoo account since 98 that is all about the spam. It gets roughly 500 emails a day. I use it when I go places and they bug me about an email address when I make a purchase.

Just got an @outlook addy, and the upgrade looks interesting. I created a gmail a short time back b/c everyone was ranting and raving about it, but I've found myself using it less and less, and back to my old hotmail account.

I'll just forward all 20 email accounts to the outlook.

Ahhhh Hotmail...do they still use "What is your favorite color?" as a password recovery question?

I've always had hotmail. Still do. But I also have gmail and a bunch of other accounts. A handful all in all and each have a specific use: personal, shopping, travel, forums, garbage registrations... Separating them by domain names makes it easy.

I still use Hotmail as my main account but they seriously need to update their spam filter. Such obvious shiat is allowed through.

One thing I do like about Hotmail is it's very easy to create an email alias. Either to keep track of things or for a temp account all tied into your main account. You can pick from 4 domain names as well. I don't think Gmail has this.

The fact rthat Windows 8 is hailed as a success means this article is full of shiat.

Okay, that one I managed to find.

Looks good to me, and think I am going to switch. Tired of not being able to get my first*last[nospam-﹫-backwards]revetahw*com and finally I do, so this is good enough reason for me to switch emails finally. firstmiddlelast[nospam-﹫-backwards]revetahw*com has just been too long... Besides, I plan on getting a WP8 when it is released, so makes sense to me to do this switch.

senorpogo: I've had an account since '98 and still use it regularly. I'm seriously considering abandoning it since Microsoft feels the need to prompt me to a tie a phone number to the account every single freaking time I log in.

NO MORE PERSONAL INFORMATION FOR YOU!

It doesn't do any validation though. I just gave it 999-999-9999 and my yahoo e-mail address (which I haven't checked in about 3 years).

Just signed up and got my firstname.lastname at... However, the initial splash screen and godawful intro video after you are signed up makes it painfully clear they are going to be marketing this hard towards 20-yo douchenozzles.

signed up with every permutation of my name I could think of. Probably some of yours, too. And some plays on words.

Am I the only one who still has an @msn.com account? I always thought it looked more professional than most of the others and it's super fast to type. The new Outlook sounds ok and the site is really fast, but I hate all this Metro stuff they are pushing now.

So now when someone says they have outlook and need help I get to ask them even more questions to pinpoint what they mean?

Microsoft, you suck.
