You guys see Joe as enabling the rape of children.
I see him sticking his neck out to help a friend continue having same-sex relations in a conservative work environment, from back when having same sex relations could get you driven out of town. It's easy now for us to say "the LGBT community does not support raping children", maybe even 10 years ago. But you know what, maybe it wasn't so clear earlier. Yeah, think about that. The Nation of Islam was always a black supremacist movement. Back in the 1960s you could hardly tell them from regular racial equality groups. Does that mean Malcom X didn't help advance racial equality? Should he be condemned instead of praised? No. And so it is with Joe. You call him a monster, I call him a hero.

Rookie mistake. I think you'll find that winning a medal will un-rape all those kids and retroactively stop the cover-up.

It's just insane to see how alums are behaving. I have about 5 acquaintances on facebook who went to Penn State. All of them have been posting about how they're being oppressed over this. Not one of them seems to care about what actually happened; the most important thing to them is their school pride. I might be a little biased because I've never watched college football and completely don't care about it. But child rape seems slightly more important.

People who care so incredibly passionately about their undergraduate college, who are not currently IN said college, are fanatics in the worst sense of the word.

Get over it. I liked my college, sure, but if they suddenly went out of business I'd shrug and go about my life only concerned because of potential employment issues. Slavish devotion to a four-year college is just childish.

Joe Pa and Lincoln both know the meaning of Sic semper tyrannis

2012-07-31 12:30:25 PM
Lincoln started the Civil War. That is the most fantastic piece of derp I think I've ever read. Forget the Confederates firing on Fort Sumter or South Carolina seceding from the Union....Lincoln started it. I had to call my dad and tell him about this; he's a huge Civil War buff. He started laughing so hard, I heard the phone drop.

I can't even focus on the rest of that garbage because of the "Lincoln started the Civil War" stuff. Hoo boy. These are college students. Of voting age. Yikes.

Coco LaFemme: I can't even focus on the rest of that garbage because of the "Lincoln started the Civil War" stuff. Hoo boy. These are college students. Of voting age. Yikes.

It's right there on Wikipedia. Lincoln, a moderate from a swing state, secured the Republican Party nomination. With almost no support in the South he swept the North and was elected president in 1860. His election was the signal for seven southern slave states to declare their secession from the Union and form the Confederate States of America. The departure of the Southerners gave Lincoln's party firm control of Congress, but no formula for compromise or reconciliation was found, and the war came.

This is why they're UNDERGRADS. A graduate student would have pointed to a real source and referenced someone who kept secret like good ol' Thomas Jefferson and his slave concubine.

it's fascinating to watch though. yes, it IS really freaky...no argument there. but...watching them justify the actions of their hero after all the evidence says otherwise is still amazing to watch.

My thought exactly. Penn State clearly hasn't gotten the message: the name on the front of the uniform is more important than the name on the back of the uniform. The Penn State culture still has not understood that you need to call the cops when you know about child rape. You don't give the child rapist a cash bonus and continued use of the rape facilities.

Yes, JoePa totally didn't know what was going on. The e-mails that Spanier, Curley and Shultz exchanged apprising "Coach" of the situation were totally bogus and had to be forged.

I'm beginning to wonder if I would shed a single tear if someone "Bane'd" the entire PSU football stadium on opening day.
