He's just playing to his base.

The Palestinians are an envious and hateful people whose objective is to destroy Israel.

That is why they are poor and underdeveloped.

They actually believe it.

The Soviet Union was a super power under communism. After communism ended, Russia receded into depression. Therefore, communism is superior to capitalism. QED.

If this was not the true statement then why do they not succeed at the business? All you have to do is the hard work according to the campaign commercials upon which I have recently seen attacking the words of Barack Harold Obama, so apparently the Israelis work harder than the other side does. I mean using tanks and the bombs against rocks is the very hard work. Although the IDF females are much more attractive than the other side so perhaps he is saying that the country upon which has the more attractive people are also more successful which has quite the bit of research backing.

I'll have you know this was custom made by my Italian tailor, not slapped together by some Vietnamese retards. 'Cause if there's one thing the Italians know, it's government corruption. But if there's two, it's government corruption and fine clothing. F*ck Canada."

y'know...as offensive as Romney's remarks are...he's being ideologically consistent. this really is how the elite prosperity gospel 1% types view the world - if you are poor, then it's because you are weak. poverty is a personal failing and moral weakness. if you were strong, you'd be rich like Mitt Romney. He's just applying his theory to cultures instead of individuals, that's all.

I wonder if Romney realizes that he's implying that liberal states are culturally superior to conservative states? According to Romney, money == culture. so if a liberal state has a strong economy then they are - in Romney's view - culturally superior to a conservative state with a weak economy.

2012-07-31 12:10:38 PM
you should hear Limbaugh today - he's saying that this comment by Romney is actually a WIN for the Romney campaign.

I won't rehash the limbaugh show today but expect to hear the GOP shills surge forth later this afternoon and tell us all that Romney's gaffes are actually bad for Obama.

Earlier today, I compared Romney's foreign policy tour as the biggest disaster since the time Napoleon went to Russia.

I feel like I need to change that to be worse than the time Hitler went to Russia, but I don't want to Godwin.

This will happen, and then he'll talk about the lovely Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and how we have money and health care and education and culture and such.

Then, tomorrow, he'll have to retract that, because those are all things his base can't stand.

I think talking about Massachusetts is the last thing he wants to do.

It reminds the base that he governed as the libbiest lib who ever socialized a job and ruined America.

Well, we can't talk about that time he ran a company that made mid -19th century mill owners feel bad for the employees, we can't talk about his personal wealth, we're not allowed to make fun of his dancing pony, we can't talk about his personal faith, and now we can't talk about the one government job he's ever had?

Romney does seem to be a pretty weak candidate. what's scarier is when you realize that as bad as Romney is as a candidate, he is STILL stronger than anyone else the GOP has to run against Obama. that's how far the GOP has fallen....Romney, for all his damage and lack of qualification, is the best they've got on tap.

Romney is playing for the jewish vote. He's decided there's no reason to go after the hispanic votes, he won't get them. But he thinks the Jewish vote (which usually goes Dem) is possible, so is making a play for them.

It's weird, isn't it?

I really figured Romney was more worldly than this. I always figured him a sort of Kodos to Obama's Kang at the end of the day. Right now it's plainly obvious this guy would bungle foreign policy even worse than Bush did, and I didn't think that was even possible.

I don't think this is necessarily the case... I think that in this election, just like '96, they know they don't have any chance of winning, so they put up the guy who is "next in line." Someone they know won't win, but who has done a lot for the party and at least gets a "chance," however slim that chance might be. There may have been other candidates that would be "better," but they still wouldn't beat Obama this time around. Keeping them out of the show means their reputation doesn't get tarnished with a loss.

I don't think we can discount the effect of running against a relatively popular incumbent. Many of what was considered the top tier sat out the election because it will be much, much easier to win the open election in 2016. There's a pile of well-known GOPers who don't have Mitt Romney's baggage who opted to sit this one out.

There's the other side of the coin, too, I guess; Rick Santorum's strong showing has him very well positioned to win the nomination in 2016. He's got the skeleton of his organization in place already and he's gotten his name out there. Spend the next 2.5 years cozying up to the big donors, and he's well on his way.

How the fark does MO get ranked below Kansas?

I know we have the Ozarks and all but c'mon, KS has Brownback and the Westboro Baptists all in one!

KS does get redemption for it's BBQ though (some of the best in KC are on the Kansas side)

"didn't build that" anyone?

So when is "When you find yourself at the bottom of hole you dug for yourself, KEEP DIGGING" gonna become the official motto of the Romney Campaign?

/Or is the GOP's copyright on that still in effect?
