I guess he wished for two different types of the drumstick!

**bum bump**

/see this was the pun because drum stick can do the representation of the stick used for the drum which has relevance to the article but also as part of the chicken which is the type of meat
//I also did the **bum bump** to make it seem as though there was the drum that was hit which would be the thing that would happen after the bad joke
///see the joke of me was intentionally the cheesy thing
////I hope you now understand this

NOT SO FUNFACT! On the "Wall of Shame" in one of my local markets, shoplifters Poloaroid photos are posted near the store's exit. They are forced to hold up the items they attempted to abscond with.

Almost all of them attempted to steal beef, usually the best cuts of course. Most of them are weeping.

Then there's the woman weeping with the infant formula.

Sweet baby Jesus, the "Wall of Shame" depresses the hell out of me.

Oh hello I also love you very much.

brap: They are forced to hold up the items they attempted to abscond with.

Is this legal (the forcing?). It just does not seem as though this would be. I am suggesting you take these pictures down and try doing the stealing of them then see if they make you take the pictures with the Polaroids. Also who the fark still has the Polaroid? Unless by this you mean Inuit hemorrhoids which is the strangest of things to have on the wall at the grocery store of you!

Someone stole two snare drum stands, two cymbals and meat from the freezer in a garage

Why would you store your drum kit in the freezer?

Thanks, article for dredging up memories of my sweet-sounding 16" Paiste Power Crash that was stolen out of the high school band storage room over the summer after it was accidentally locked in there at the end of the school year.

Even if I somehow managed to get that cymbal back now, I'd never get the meat smell off of it.

You jut keep the hardware and the cymbals in the freezer... keeping them below 30f helps prevent metal fatigue as long as you thaw them out before playing.

Occasionally... you see some people that mistakenly put the drums in the freezer as well. They're easy to spot though... because they have to put a blanket in the kick drum to help warm it up.

/and they don't know how to tune drums.

Which part?

It's all good fun... until the slashie. Then it gets REAL!

Why is it that tuning a guitar is usually covered in the first lesson... but 90% of drummers never learn how to properly tune drums?

/Hint: If there is duct tape, electrical tape, foam, cloth, felt, neoprene or any other nonsense on your drumheads... you're doing it wrong!

//Former rockstar... drums have been sitting in their ATA cases in the attic at a friends house for about 6 years now.

///That's kinda sad

Thanks but... I gave up and I'm happier for it.

Guys I used to play with are doing the Casino circuit around S. Cal and doing pretty well. Not for me. Not at all.

Had my time... had experiences most people can only dream about... grew up and moved on with my life. Although I miss being young and touring with my friends in our old crappy bus... I don't miss much else.

I dislike every part of being a rock star drummer except the exact act of playing the drums in front of many enthusiastic people. That's why I've backed off but can't stop completely. It's my natural habitat.

THIS.

I cannot STAND lugging, tuning, packing, adjusting drums. Farking LOVE playing them.

I'll never give up.

Ahhw shiat! Drum nerd thyme!

I use a thin, cut-lengthwise in half towel stretched across the inside of the batter head of my bass drum. That muffles some of the batter head vibration. I also use a small throw pillow inside the bass drum to muffle just the bottom edge of the front head. I never cut a hole in the front head, ever. It get's a nice boomey sound from the front head's limited vibration and a decent "DUD" attack from the more muffled batter head being struck by the peddle mallet. The effect is like getting punched in the gut combined with a fast 20hz decay. So I disagree with your TOTAL assessment sir.

//FWIW if you have to muffle your toms or snare you either may not know how to tune them or your kit is crap. Just being honest.

Drum nerd thread? Whoot!

I can forgive the bass drum. There are some things (muffling wise) that are necessary in the kick drum... especially if you're dealing with a house soundman that you don't trust.

Full drum nerd (and a walk down memory lane): 24x18 8 ply maple, Powerstroke 3 heads both sides (which are actually 'pre muffled' with a mylar ring. 8" hole in the front head for live miking. Thing was a cannon.

Do kids still play maple drums?

Pretty much the way I felt. Just comes a point where the associated BS all becomes too much to deal with for the level of return you're getting. It's about entertaining people and connecting with and feeding off an audience. I was never one of those guys that could jam for hours in a garage just because... (12 bar blues anyone?)... ick.
