I hear in Poland the highest form of respect is demanding butt love at holy sites.

The wheels on the Romney bus have taco-ed from carrying too many gaffes.

Don't question Mitt when you're not supposed to he will say something that damages his brand. I can see why the press secretary is so twitchy and aggressive.

Romney proves less capable than Palin at interacting with other humans. It shows in his attitude as well as his choice in staff.

FTA: "This is a holy site for the Polish people. Show some respect."

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a memorial erected to all the soldiers that Kerry forgot, and these New York elitist libtards want to desecrate that memory by asking Romney questions.

Sickening.

Anyone else think this is more of a media event than an actual campaign event? Potential Romney voters like cussing out the press, pissing off foreigners, and hating on Palestinians, which is all Romney has done. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a bump out of this nonsense.

They are THE PRESS! If anyone has the tools to shred a politician it's them.
But noooooooo...... They cut off their own balls then wondered why they are treated like shiat.

Reporter: "But if I don't say what they want then I'll never get an interview of have a question asked again"
Person: "Well, you're not getting interviews or good questions anyway, so what does it matter?"

Actually, it may be the best thing for Romney's campaign if they don't get covered at all. Maybe that's what this is--the beginning of keeping the press so far back they give up and go home.

As the last stop on his tour, Romney must be breathing a sigh of relief that this nightmare is finally over.

So's the rest of the party, I bet.

There goes the liberal, MSM, out to crucify poor old Mitt with questions he can't possibly answer on a Holy site no less! I'm sure Mitt will hold a large press conference where he can field all appropriate questions. If it happens to take place 2 weeks from now in the States, after all this hate has died down, I wouldn't be surprised. Frankly, I would think it another shrewd move, only meant to enrage those lefty media folks.

Listen, the Romney campaign is sick and tired of the bad press it is getting, and they need to respect that and stop reporting on things his campaign screws up. You want a horserace don't you guys? You better find a new speech by Obama to edit into a gaffe from him to report on instead. Don't you want to be balanced in your coverage?

I am absolutely expecting Ashton Kutcher to jump out at the press pool any minute with 'You got PUNK'D!'

There is no way any professional political campaigners could be this obtuse, this completely ignorant of handling today's media unless they were 1.) composed entirely of journalism interns from Phoenix University, or 2.) secret democratic operatives. Obama's team doesn't have to even dig for anything: Just pick a sound bite, and roll it into a commercial.

This will have no effect, granted, whatsover on the GOP/Teabag base. But good luck getting the vote of any independent with 4 functioning brain cells: He's making Palin look skilled!

You've, uh...you've never seen the president at any event, ever, have you? The damn Hannukah candle-lighting (in 2003, I was there) couldn't conclude without reporters lobbing seventeen questions at a time Bush - whose entire job was literally to stand and light some candles; maybe 10 minutes of his time on a PR thing. He took a moment to collect himself (likely, to remember what canned answer the staff coached into him), and responded curtly but respectfully. Karl Rove didn't jump out to call the guy a farkstick before inviting him to perform and around-the-world on DC's most expensive transvestite hooker.

Anyway, no one objects to the staffer calling it "a holy site"? A grave is many things - a place of respectful reflection on life (and the life/lives of those lost), and in this specific case, it's a monument to all soldiers lost - but "holy"? With so many actual old churches and places of worship nearby? I think the respect for the military thing may have gotten a bit out of hand.

It staggers me that a GOP supporters could see the obvious twisting and misrepresenting of what Obama said and not be bothered. Not because you have morals, or some belief system that operates on regular right/wrong data, but because it's such fail. This turd, his campaign, his non-existent platform are the best the GOP could prepare and offer to their constituents in four years to prepare. That you would still parrot their talking points as if they are valid, as if they don't make you look ridiculous, as if they were an actual gaffe and not twisted shows how foolish you are. Again, not because it isn't the truth and anyone expects the Right to operate with any kind of morals or values, but because it's just that lame.

At some point, even people as stupid as you will have to wake up, claw their way through the fear of the day, and realize these guys are topping you and your fellowing constituents like Gay Gang-bang Porn, and you deserve better. Yes, even fear based, brainless idiots, and our nation as a whole, deserve better than this Clown Shoes party you're supporting.

Asking him questions that require self-reflection and candor are also a useful means of gauging (or re-re-re-confirming) how in or out of touch he is with reality and with his own understanding of the perceptions of other people about him. A person who's not capable of self-analysis will not be a good leader.

Besides, Rmoney has already made his entire policy schedule very clear:

Because asking about the media uproar over his trip is topical. There are no meaningful questions to ask about Polish-American relations, and if you try ask a question about domestic policy you'll be easily brushed aside with a "now is not the time for that type of question. I'm focusing on American-Polish relations" quip.

In Poland, "kiss my ass" is a term of endearment, referring to a simpler time when neighbors would kiss the forehead of one another's mules as a sign of respect and friendship. Damn liberal media always has to put their spin on everything.

Lost Thought 00: Because asking about the media uproar over his trip is topical. There are no meaningful questions to ask about Polish-American relations, and if you try ask a question about domestic policy you'll be easily brushed aside with a "now is not the time for that type of question. I'm focusing on American-Polish relations" quip.

Well one of the reporters asked him about the stupid shiat he said about Palestine. That's a relevant question about foreign policy, rather than meaningless blather regarding the political horserace.

Dr Dreidel: cirby: After the Romney folks tried - and failed - to get the asshole reporters to show even a little decorum, the staffer finally lost his temper.

Yeah, let's try to make it look like it's Romney's fault that the press in Europe is made up of a bunch of rude, uncultured morons.

FTFA
On Monday, Fox News host Greta Van Susteren wrote on her blog, "There has been no press access to Governor Romney since we landed in Poland. We (press) are in a holding pattern (I can't help but feel a bit like the press is a modified petting zoo since we are trapped in a bus while Polish citizens take pictures of us.)"

Greta's part of the press in Europe?

Apparently she is. You didn't think it was actual European reporters that he was shouting at, did you? Because if you did, you'd be looking pretty stupid right about now.

The big difference between Mitt and Palin is that Obama/Biden couldn't really take the gloves off against Palin. Otherwise they look like they're picking on the poor defenseless mama grizzly. Biden had to completely bite his tongue during their debate.

Fortunately, that shouldn't be a problem with Mitt. If he complains at being victimized, he just comes across as whiny and weak. So Obama/Biden don't have to take it easy on him. Should make for a very interesting September/October when things get really going.

Diplomacy means holding how you really feel inside, and acting with grace. You must maintain coolness under pressure, even though inside you feel like Richard Nixon among imbeciles. How is Nikita Krushchev remembered, in America? as the guy who lost his cool and took off his shoe and used it to hammer a point home. Not as a formidable statesman, even though he was.

Gerald Ford was a lunkhead, a boob, an utter waste of political juice. He spent years trying to bring down Earl Warren, relying on the thinly veiled racism that was the Fortas scandal long after it's sell-by date, in an effort to bring the Court hard to the right. And it wasn't the Nixon pardon that killed Ford's political career (remember, Gerald Ford wouldn't even have been Vice President or, ultimately, President, had he not committed in advance to the pardon). That was a blow, but not so much as many people now believe - a substantial plurality of the country actually supported the notion of putting the Nixon nightmare behind us. No, what cost Ford the 1976 election was a vigorous and ultimately damaging primary campaign from Ronald Reagan, and the huge public embarrassment over these things:

Romney and his handlers can't function around anything but ass-kissing Yes Men. Same as it ever was.

Gaffe? If Romney keeps going after the press like this he may actually win the election.

How?

BMulligan: (remember, Gerald Ford wouldn't even have been Vice President or, ultimately, President, had he not committed in advance to the pardon

Right.

That is 100% completely false. Gerald Ford became Vice President because he was the only person the Democrats would confirm, and that NONSENSE about him agreeing to pardon Nixon before Nixon resigned is nothing but speculation that has been denied over and over by every single person involved.

ExperianScaresCthulhu: palelizard: quatchi: Step 1. Keep reporters cooped up inside a bus for hours on end.

Step 2. Refuse access to the candidate they are ostensibly there to cover.

Step 3. Have a hissy fit in front of reporters and imagine that that is not gonna become *the* story.

Step 4. _______

Step 5. Profit?

/Really, really bad at this.
//At this point I'm imagining Romney took the lowest bid offered on campaign talent and the guys who got the contract subbed the work out to a former call center in India.
///Possibly Estonia, it's a theory in progress.

What's that country in the Dilbert comics?

Stankonia?

Elbonia.

/Oddly enuff I thought about using Elbonia when I posted that but was too lazy to google the name at the time.

I was pretty sure this election was going to be boring. There would be daily stories of, "OMG! The polls moved 2 pts this month! It's a horse race!" over and over, and that would mostly be it. I didn't expect Mitt to deliver the lulz daily.

verbaltoxin: I didn't expect Mitt to deliver the lulz daily.

And to think we were all kinda disappointed when Michele Bachmann dropped out. How little did we know that Mitt was her equal if not her better at bringing the hilarity.

cirby: "As they were shouting their questions, Romney's travel press secretary Richard Gorka told the reporters to 'show some respect.'"

After the Romney folks tried - and failed - to get the asshole reporters to show even a little decorum, the staffer finally lost his temper.

Yeah, let's try to make it look like it's Romney's fault that the press in Europe is made up of a bunch of rude, uncultured morons.

Ha ha, you think European press cares enough about Romney to follow him around. No.

Does anyone get the feeling that the press is about to turn on the Romney campaign? It's like they are chumming the water, and expecting them to be satisfied with some entrails.

Please. That would only prove that the Lamestream Liberal Palace Guard Obamedia Media is indeed full of liberals.

It is only by presenting Republicans as infallible defenders of morality, ever-faithful stewards of National Defense and the most fiscally conservative-est Reaganites EVAR that the media can shed itself of its hideous marriage to communism.

Oh I think they've realized by now Romney is going to treat them like the rest of the 99%-ers, and not speak to them except in pre-prepared comments and photo ops. When even the Fox reporters are whining about Romney, it's clear that the media is about to put the smack down on him.

Mark my word. Because of "disclosure issues" and the "need for privacy for his family" Romney will abdicate before the Republican convention and request that delegates direct their votes to other candidates.

Up in heaven his father George will be smiling down. Mitt, you will be pres in the next world where there are no people of color, no taxes, and only Mormons.

A "holy site"? So holy you staged a campaign event at it?

After reporters protested, pointing out that Romney has only taken "but three questions" during his entire trip to London, Israel and Poland, Gorka said, "Kiss my a**. This is a holy site for the Polish people. Show some respect." The back and forth continued for a few seconds until Gorka ended the conversation with, "Why don't you shove it?"

A veritable Möbius strip of FAIL.

Rmoney was probably trying to get the names of the 'unknown soldiers' so he could, you know, posthumously baptize them...
Is it possible that being a Mormon is like a Pokemon game.. .where if you collect them all and get them appropriately baptized then you 'level up'... ok, maybe it's more like scientology... with posthumous baptizism.

barneyfifesbullet: Lost Thought 00: There is no better way to ensure that you will be covered unfairly than to piss off the pool reporters.

Like, Romney is ever going to be covered fairly.

You're right, Romney gets a hell of a lot of free-passes. The media wants this to be a dead-heat horse race, even though every respectable pollster shows Obama running away with it.

Hell, the media doesn't even bother to call him on his constant lies and flip-flops. It's like Obama can't get a break.

So where are the Romney apologists today? They sure were fired up about national polls, how state polls don't matter, and how swing states don't matter yesterday. Yet here we are, Romney and his people making asses of themselves again for our amusement, and not a single shill in sight.

I know, but "Ginger, get the popcorn" is an actual line from early season 1, beginning of the episode when Ainsley was introduced. Donna earned various gold stars throughout the series, but never got the popcorn. this screenshot is right after Josh told reporters their questions were dumb, and was subsequently led into telling the press that the president had a secret plan to fight inflation. I chose it for his facial expression.

Also it was from, from Season 2, Episode 4, 'In this White House.'

The secret plan to fight inflation was from 'Celestial Navigation,' Season 1, Episode 15.

This person - and his staff - want the highest office in your country, and this is how they will behave when they are in charge.

Remember that.

Understandably, the reporter was insulted because the only ass they kiss is Obammie's.

Wait, did someone say that already?
