What a gaffe looks like.

It staggers me that a GOP supporters could see the obvious twisting and misrepresenting of what Obama said and not be bothered. Not because you have morals, or some belief system that operates on regular right/wrong data, but because it's such fail. This turd, his campaign, his non-existent platform are the best the GOP could prepare and offer to their constituents in four years to prepare. That you would still parrot their talking points as if they are valid, as if they don't make you look ridiculous, as if they were an actual gaffe and not twisted shows how foolish you are. Again, not because it isn't the truth and anyone expects the Right to operate with any kind of morals or values, but because it's just that lame.

At some point, even people as stupid as you will have to wake up, claw their way through the fear of the day, and realize these guys are topping you and your fellowing constituents like Gay Gang-bang Porn, and you deserve better. Yes, even fear based, brainless idiots, and our nation as a whole, deserve better than this Clown Shoes party you're supporting.

I seriously want to copy and paste that to a few of my idiot acquaintances on Facebook.

cameroncrazy1984: CorporatePerson: cameroncrazy1984: CorporatePerson: To be fair, most of those questions were stupid as hell. Why are our journalists asking him nonsense like "Do you feel your gaffes are overshadowing your trip?" What kind of a dumbfark question is that?

Why not ask him about policy? I'm much more interested in hearing what this guy is planning for America, instead of stupid horse race shiat that ultimately doesn't matter.

Romney has repeatedly said he won't talk about his policies until he gets into office.

So ask him again. And again. And again.

It's not as if he's going to give you an answer to "Hurr don't you think your gaffes are so bad?" You can't blame a guy for refusing to answer a stupid question. Why not ask him a question that a reasonable candidate would answer?

Why can't Romney answer a stupid question? Jeez, it's not like he was asked something hard like "What newspapers do you read?" It's just a "No" and move on. This press secretary sucks at his job and got angry. Not smart.

Agreed.

Still, you gotta admit that creating a news making gaffe while you're trying to prevent your candidate from answering questions about previous news making gaffes *is* kinda zen.

It's like meta, ya know.

Thanks. Watching the entire thing is much more damning than the "out of context" part.

the roanoke revelation was the turning point in this election.

If it was a turning point, more people would know what the hell a "roanoke revelation" is.

sprawl15: palelizard: Actually, it may be the best thing for Romney's campaign if they don't get covered at all. Maybe that's what this is--the beginning of keeping the press so far back they give up and go home.

If the campaign let the press in, they'd notice that Romney was posthumously baptizing the soldier.

I think you mean retroactively baptizing.

I honestly think that he would have been great for the country, had he been given a chance. He was probably the last HONEST leader we'll ever have, but there was no way he could get anything done with the Nixon situation hanging over him, and once he pardoned Nixon, his political career was over.

Philip J. Fry: Romney proves less capable than Palin at interacting with other humans. It shows in his attitude as well as his choice in staff.

I'm starting to see some similarities between Rmoney and Palin.
Sure, they're photogenic and all, but let them open their yaps and go off script and things go downhill faster than a runaway truck on a steep grade in a high-gravity environment with a stiff tailwind.

No wonder Twit Mitt doesn't want to answer questions...seems he's only opening his mouth to change feet anymore.

The big difference between Mitt and Palin is that Obama/Biden couldn't really take the gloves off against Palin. Otherwise they look like they're picking on the poor defenseless mama grizzly. Biden had to completely bite his tongue during their debate.

Fortunately, that shouldn't be a problem with Mitt. If he complains at being victimized, he just comes across as whiny and weak. So Obama/Biden don't have to take it easy on him. Should make for a very interesting September/October when things get really going.

Diplomacy means holding how you really feel inside, and acting with grace. You must maintain coolness under pressure, even though inside you feel like Richard Nixon among imbeciles. How is Nikita Krushchev remembered, in America? as the guy who lost his cool and took off his shoe and used it to hammer a point home. Not as a formidable statesman, even though he was.

Grace under pressure, in all things.

/that includes the Emmanuel Brothers b.s.
//if you can't keep grace under pressure, you better have charisma to 'make it all better' after the fact

Gerald Ford was a lunkhead, a boob, an utter waste of political juice. He spent years trying to bring down Earl Warren, relying on the thinly veiled racism that was the Fortas scandal long after it's sell-by date, in an effort to bring the Court hard to the right. And it wasn't the Nixon pardon that killed Ford's political career (remember, Gerald Ford wouldn't even have been Vice President or, ultimately, President, had he not committed in advance to the pardon). That was a blow, but not so much as many people now believe - a substantial plurality of the country actually supported the notion of putting the Nixon nightmare behind us. No, what cost Ford the 1976 election was a vigorous and ultimately damaging primary campaign from Ronald Reagan, and the huge public embarrassment over these things:

Favorability
Obama: 54%
Romney: 46%

Likability:
Obama: 60%
Romney: 30%

"Basically, it looks like Romney's personality is holding him back and Obama's likability is helping him," said Jeffrey M. Jones, managing editor for the Gallup Poll. "It seems frivolous, but it matters."

Right.

That is 100% completely false. Gerald Ford became Vice President because he was the only person the Democrats would confirm, and that NONSENSE about him agreeing to pardon Nixon before Nixon resigned is nothing but speculation that has been denied over and over by every single person involved.
