I'm pretty sure he meant that retroactively.

"Kiss my a**. This is a holy site for the Polish people. Show some respect."

I hear in Poland the highest form of respect is demanding butt love at holy sites.

The wheels on the Romney bus have taco-ed from carrying too many gaffes.

2012-07-31 11:15:04 AM
Don't question Mitt when you're not supposed to he will say something that damages his brand. I can see why the press secretary is so twitchy and aggressive.

2012-07-31 11:15:14 AM
Romney proves less capable than Palin at interacting with other humans. It shows in his attitude as well as his choice in staff.

FTA: "This is a holy site for the Polish people. Show some respect."

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a memorial erected to all the soldiers that Kerry forgot, and these New York elitist libtards want to desecrate that memory by asking Romney questions.

Sickening.

2012-07-31 11:16:02 AM
Gotta figure that's better than letting Romney answer questions.

There is no better way to ensure that you will be covered unfairly than to piss off the pool reporters.

It's as if Rob Reiner was making a mockumentary about running for office.

2012-07-31 11:19:16 AM
Anyone else think this is more of a media event than an actual campaign event? Potential Romney voters like cussing out the press, pissing off foreigners, and hating on Palestinians, which is all Romney has done. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a bump out of this nonsense.

They are THE PRESS! If anyone has the tools to shred a politician it's them.
But noooooooo...... They cut off their own balls then wondered why they are treated like shiat.

Reporter: "But if I don't say what they want then I'll never get an interview of have a question asked again"
Person: "Well, you're not getting interviews or good questions anyway, so what does it matter?"

Actually, it may be the best thing for Romney's campaign if they don't get covered at all. Maybe that's what this is--the beginning of keeping the press so far back they give up and go home.

2012-07-31 11:20:18 AM
As the last stop on his tour, Romney must be breathing a sigh of relief that this nightmare is finally over.

So's the rest of the party, I bet.

Like, Romney is ever going to be covered fairly.

There goes the liberal, MSM, out to crucify poor old Mitt with questions he can't possibly answer on a Holy site no less! I'm sure Mitt will hold a large press conference where he can field all appropriate questions. If it happens to take place 2 weeks from now in the States, after all this hate has died down, I wouldn't be surprised. Frankly, I would think it another shrewd move, only meant to enrage those lefty media folks.

Way to go, Mitt! Keep it classy!

In fairness to you though, screaming "Kiss my ass" isn't really a gaffe either.

Atleast you got a new out of context quote to use for the next 4 years, 57 states is pretty old by now...

Listen, the Romney campaign is sick and tired of the bad press it is getting, and they need to respect that and stop reporting on things his campaign screws up. You want a horserace don't you guys? You better find a new speech by Obama to edit into a gaffe from him to report on instead. Don't you want to be balanced in your coverage?

If the campaign let the press in, they'd notice that Romney was posthumously baptizing the soldier.

The longer this goes on the more I am convinced that Anonymous is the hacker group on steroids the media portrays it to be and they have social engineered control of the GOP and are in the midst of the worlds biggest trolling.

He may very well be able to govern a state or run a company, but I sure as hell wouldn't trust this man, or anyone of his staffs, handle international diplomacy.

I think his press secretary just summed up Rmoney's attitude toward the entire world.

Oops.

"As they were shouting their questions, Romney's travel press secretary Richard Gorka told the reporters to 'show some respect.'"

After the Romney folks tried - and failed - to get the asshole reporters to show even a little decorum, the staffer finally lost his temper.

Yeah, let's try to make it look like it's Romney's fault that the press in Europe is made up of a bunch of rude, uncultured morons.

On international matters I believe he is surrounding himself with people with plenty of experience, the got it in the Bush administration.

These libs need to show some respect for the Polack buried in that tomb.

They could have asked yesterday when Governor Mitt Romney and his beautiful wife were at some monument to a Warsaw ghetto. I'm not sure why Poland has a monument to black people that don't want to work and just live in a ghetto, but that's Polacks for you I guess.

Also, it was good to see Romney upbraid this lousy union thug. Give him hell, Mitt!

These were American reporters who'd flown around Europe and Israel with Romney, and haven't been allowed any access to the guy the entire trip. I bet a bunch were wondering why they didn't just stay in London to watch the Olympics.

2012-07-31 11:28:09 AM
I am absolutely expecting Ashton Kutcher to jump out at the press pool any minute with 'You got PUNK'D!'

There is no way any professional political campaigners could be this obtuse, this completely ignorant of handling today's media unless they were 1.) composed entirely of journalism interns from Phoenix University, or 2.) secret democratic operatives. Obama's team doesn't have to even dig for anything: Just pick a sound bite, and roll it into a commercial.

This will have no effect, granted, whatsover on the GOP/Teabag base. But good luck getting the vote of any independent with 4 functioning brain cells: He's making Palin look skilled!

2012-07-31 11:29:24 AM
Even trying to insulate Romney from the press so his obvious glaring defects don't rise to the fore and they have problems. Even doing nothing is pure fail when it comes to Romney. Lulz!

also unprecedented. Normally you talk to th e press that travels with you. Romney chose to piss them off for no apparent reason.

Don't want to deal with the press Mr. Romney? The press should just hop on the nearest plane back home and give him zero coverage, Mitt who? Give him complete news blackout if all he can do is ignore the press. If you want press coverage, you actually have to interact with them.

Hell, even FOX News was complaining!

FTFA: On Monday, Fox News host Greta Van Susteren wrote on her blog, "There has been no press access to Governor Romney since we landed in Poland. We (press) are in a holding pattern (I can't help but feel a bit like the press is a modified petting zoo since we are trapped in a bus while Polish citizens take pictures of us.)"

Gotta suck when even the GOP cheerleaders are complaining about lack of access.

You've, uh...you've never seen the president at any event, ever, have you? The damn Hannukah candle-lighting (in 2003, I was there) couldn't conclude without reporters lobbing seventeen questions at a time Bush - whose entire job was literally to stand and light some candles; maybe 10 minutes of his time on a PR thing. He took a moment to collect himself (likely, to remember what canned answer the staff coached into him), and responded curtly but respectfully. Karl Rove didn't jump out to call the guy a farkstick before inviting him to perform and around-the-world on DC's most expensive transvestite hooker.

Anyway, no one objects to the staffer calling it "a holy site"? A grave is many things - a place of respectful reflection on life (and the life/lives of those lost), and in this specific case, it's a monument to all soldiers lost - but "holy"? With so many actual old churches and places of worship nearby? I think the respect for the military thing may have gotten a bit out of hand.

// respect, don't revere
