You are correct, Big Ben is the bell not the tower. And side note the foundry that made Big Ben also made the Liberty Bell.

Silly people. Too dumb to check around to see if there is a convenient bell tower with a big clock before looking at their watch or phone.

Uh...it is a National landmark there. It was fairly surprising that no one noticed, other than the Londoners at the end that immediately, without hesitation looked at it.
