I can see two sides of this. One side says yes they should stay there in order to do the fixing of the federal budget while the other side of this says that everyone needs to the vacation at the times. I am not the judge of this but if I was the judge of this I would see this from both sides unlike most of the people who do the politics tab postings.

The first side of this says that yes the budget needs the fixing even if this includes the My Little Pony toys and the Chicago team to not have suckage although I am not particularly sure of the relevance upon these things and believe perhaps the submitter has done the preemptive thread jacket. However the reason for this need is because it will be the important thing for one day the United States of the Americas to catch up with the rest of the world and to have the single-payer health care system. I know this seems like such the obvious thing but there are those in this country who enjoy mimicking Iran. For this reason it will be necessary to do some shiftings in the budget to make sure that this can be afforded and upon which this it will be the necessary thing for some extra time at the office from those who have the carriage such as the Virginia congressmen.

The other side of this says that who cares about the average American person who cannot even be fit to shine the shoes of the rich people who run the congress? The people of the Congress work hard because sometimes it is a difficult thing to receive money from the lobbyists or to remember which party you belong to when you are doing the voting on the issues. Yes these individuals have the toughest job and deserve the recess time to play with the other rich kids on the playground which in the case of this would probably be the yacht.

Now I have presented the two sides to you and wish for the opinions of you very much the Fark.com politics tab. I am very looking forward to the well-informed, rational, and completely unemotional opinions of all of you so perhaps we can share the perspectives of each other and see if there are even more than two sides upon which to do the viewing.

DC is disgusting in the summer. It is a former swamp and the humidity and bug still somehow live on. I can understand why the vacation is traditional. However if all the office workers still have to show up, so should the elected officials. We have air conditioning now.

Congress is incapable of fixing the budget. Time is not the problem. The budget will never be fixed in our lifetimes.

Oh hell, it's no worse than pretty much anywhere in the southeast quadrant of the country. Or Chicago for that matter.

/yes, I have lived in dc

Stagnant bog water. I hate DC in the summer. I hate the southeast during the summer too, to be fair.

Connolly doesn't care: he lives there.

He seems much less tan than when he was Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.

Connolly?

*checks link*

Yep.

He's always good at making it look like working hard. It's mostly an act if you ask me.

I hear since Mitt Romney liked the Israeli health system so much he's gonna look into their income tax structure, too. That should solve the problem.

We in Australia had our own version of this recently. Just when our Federal Parliament was about to break for their holidays, a flood of refugee-laden boats from Asia were coming to Australia. In many cases these overladen boats had sunk and many people drowned. Refugee immigration via small boats and people smugglers are a huge and controversial topic in this country.

Well, the issue of the boats reached crisis point, the public, and many of our federal politicians demanded a solution be hammered out- and guess what- Parliament went on holiday without finding a bipartisan solution.

///Australia- where refugees die in sinking boats so that our politicians can have a nice relaxing holiday at taxpayers' expense!

At this point, I'd wager fictional cartoon ponies to be more capable of governing than our actual elected politicians.

Not even gonna lie, if we could replace the current government with the Ponies from that show I'd do it in a heartbeat.

It's the new generation of Aussies, I'd blame. Your grandfathers would put the politicians on the sinking boats for their vacation.

Or just for a lark...and sell tickets and beer to watch the fun.

At the very least, it would make Congress 20% cooler.

You'll never get it out of that socialist Princess Fartlestia Hussein Soetoro.

Or that Marxist Kenyan Lunabongo.

Our politicians have become very good experts at justifying whatever it is they want to do.
