So, Masters of the Universe will be a full-on gay porn, right?

There was a GI Joe movie?

2012-07-31 11:21:24 AM
There is a sequel coming out to GI Joes? I tried watching the first one once on Netflix streaming and turned it off after a few minutes. It was bad enough that Mike Nelson & group giving it the Rifftrax treatment still has not been enough for me even try to watch it again.

Actually, I'd see a Masters of the Universe movie. I'd happier if they came up with one when I was in 4th grade but still.

/no, the Courney Cox one doesn't count

I think "movie" is generous. I've seen better film form on my bathroom tiles.

Can we get to '90s nostalgia already?

He-man is too irredeemably 80's for a remake to be any good. G.I. Joe is easy to update since it's about soldiers. With He-Man you have to either go all-in original look, which is too ridiculous and campy for today's kids and would embarrass the most nostalgic adult, or you have to update it. If you update it by the time you've modernized everything you wouldn't have much left of the original idea.

I think He-Man stirred some of my nascent gayness as a wee lad. Although I dug Duncan's porn-stache.

Can you imagine how much spray on tan they'd burn through trying to stay true to the cartoon?

What, you mean the rather blatant penis helmet stirred someone's nascent gayness? Nah.
But when you combine that with
encrypted-tbn2.google.com

And the intro where Prince Adam, in his pink tunic and lavender leggings and boots tells you "Fabulous powers were revealed to me the day I held aloft .....", and you've got a recipe for Liberace.

Seriously though, they did do female bodies right in that cartoon.

/been really bored and recently watched bunches of old 80's cartoons on Netflix.
//Not gay, but I never realized as a kid in the 80s how much of that cartoon seemed homosexual.

I always wondered why the cartoon version had a 'stache, but the original action figure didn't:

I'm thinking maybe someone must've missed a memo somewhere?

Still, it's always funny to see Man-At-Arms toys in Goodwill bins and on garage sale tables. It's about 50/50 as to whether they'll have a drawn-on Sharpie cookie-duster or not.

Goddamn you. I don't know how, but just seeing that picture from M.A.S.K started that theme song going in my head. So my gift to the rest of you farkers, the M.A.S.K intro.

Come on, Sienna Miller was smoking hot as the Baroness, and Rachel Nichols' tits bouncing on the treadmill was spectacular.

I wish Adult Swim would make a show like Sealab 2021 but with He-Man. Y'know use the same animation style and stills and totally change the dialogue to be funny.

-I miss that show but glad it was cancelled before it got stale. Debbie and Stormy were the best! I still wonder why Eric Estrada, Ponch from CHiPs, would ever do voiceover work. Same with Patrick Stewart doing Family Guy and American Dad. How did you get approached to do these shows and why did you say yes?

I'll give you M.A.S.K, cuz that'd be farking awesome, but careful now with my Bravestarr.

I think the Marshal would make a great movie. Technology, magic, the old west and superhero powers? It's a winning combination!

A superb update which worked well partly because it was animated-which is the ideal medium for it.
Not everything deserves a live-action treatment.

The only thing I remember about it is while watching it I began to wonder if the director had a tape of JGL and Chris Eccleston having sex with a donkey.

I understand the concept of a paycheck movie but there should be limits.

Well if it helps, it'll most likely be about 75% CGI.

Tri-clops: "Master, what does this lever do?"

*Pulls lever, activates pit trap, falls into pit*

Skeletor: "Serves the fool right."

And this gem, which now that I see it, looks very bad out of context...

"Nice shot Zoar! You blew him right over the castle wall!"

Not likely. They're not going to simply turn down the extra $3/ticket or whatever it is. Luckily I've never seen a movie that wasn't also offered in 2D. I'm shocked that Nolan had the juice to refuse to shoot TDKR in 3D.

There's a rumor that they are reshooting. Seems the original film had Channing Tatum getting killed off early, but it was decided that he needed to be rewritten into the movie as a main character. If it's true, then that's a whole lot of reshooting.

You're right and wrong. The toys came first, but only Orko was a cartoon creation. Teela and Battle Cat were in the first wave of the toys and Prince Adam was introduced in either the minicomics that came with the toys or the DC Comics miniseries that came out before the cartoon.

/Huge fan since I was 2.

Plus they're adding 63% more Channing Tatum. Well, I don't know how much, but they're changing it drastically from him dying in the first five minutes.

That's always a good sign when a movie goes through massive re-shoots. It's always seamless.

/more likely the reason is the film got abysmal test screenings
