Gosling: JerseyTim: What is he doing to get them?

Basically trying to kill the Egyptian and being the most reckless son of a biatch with a sword since Jack Churchill.

Can't it watch from work. :(

Is it just anger compounding into more anger? Common sight.

Best Koreans just in there to talk shiat and try to hurt US players now. A couple tackles weren't even close to the ball.

RE: the previous discussion about the Chinese swimmer and doping.

A few weeks back there was a Fark thread about one of our female weight lifters (the one whose brother is in the NFL) and someone in the thread posted a link to this long-ass article that was nominally about The US's lack of success in weight lifting but was really about how county's are, or can be, successful at particular sports at the Olympic/World Championship level. The author seemed to have a lot of experience with the US Olympic athletic community (he used to be a speed skater and before that worked out with our weight lifters).

One of his many, many points was that at that sort of level EVERYONE is doping. Doesn't matter the country or the sport, everyone is on something because you cannot be both clean and competitive, and that it has been this way sonce the 60s. Apparently, everyone knows this, and all the anti-doping efforts are really just a show to help overcome Americans' cognitive dissonance between demanding winners and hanging onto our Puritan belief thaf work ethic is all success requires. That anyone who dopes is just lazy and doesn't want to put the work in, and that all our good, clean American girls and boys can overcome any such cheatig through heart and hard work and eating their vegetables. The truth - according to this blogger guy - is that everyone dopes, even America, and everyone works their asses off, even China.

So, was the Chinese swimmer on something? Probably. Is Phelps and Lochte and Franklin? Probably.

/pardon the typos, doing this on my phone

France in, Colombia out without scoring a single goal all Olympics

All comes down to New Zealand-Cameroon now to determine the last spot.

Kiwis win and they're in.
A tie or Cameroon win by less than 4 goals lets Best Korea in.
Cameroon needs to win by at least 4 to advance.

midpoint: This is a potent mix of national pride and bitter past experience. This column provides evidence for the other side: LinkChina has got a good chance of finishing top of the medal table - by any ranking measure - and that is going to be difficult to accept for some.

Yeah, it was fairly obvious as soon as China settled in to the top of the medal table again the US would start with the accusations of doping regardless of any evidence. Which is especially funny from the country that really pioneered and developed doping in sport to a billion dollar science back in the day (and almost certainly still is king of doping technology, although most of it is likely concentrated in the main domestic sports rather than relatively less rich arenas like athletics and swimming).

I'm not sure what you are talking about...Track and Field hasn't even freaking started yet and the US is just behind China in medal count/gold medals. Next week is going to have a few auto-US golds in it, as well.

Besides the doping nonsense, it is great to see Dan Patrick doing sportscenter-esque ping pong highlights. Although, I'm not sure that's what he wants to be relegated to in London

I know that white is an illegal touch. The red and green show which person touched first for scoring.

Indicates a touch, when a fencer makes a touch the lights in their helmet light up.

I read that tome and I agree for the most part. Still cracks me up there are cycling fans who will tell you with a straight face that armstrong has never doped. BUT HE'S THE MOST TESTED ATHLETE! Forget that basically his entire team has now been busted for doping at one point or another. But sure, I'll accept they were all dirty and the guy they were ferrying up the hill isn't.

/ps: all the guys later found out to be juicers passed lots and lots of drug tests too

Am I just being skeptical or does the French weight lifter seem like he's faking the tight hamstring injury to save himself the embarrassment of not being able to get the weights off the ground?

I honestly would rather there be Doping out in the open. lets set what science can do for the human body. Dammit, I want to watch freaks of nature compete against each other for my entertainment while I sit in the comfort of my home. Doping just makes it more interesting. With the exception of giving testosterone to women, that's just gross.

Not at all. Look at how they lost 360,000 with 2 million captured in fighting Germany in the Battle of France. Yep. just threw down their guns and ran away.

Again, this was coming from an article written not by me but by someone who at least seemed to know his shiat.

He made a similar point to you about steroids in baseball - the key to any success is being able to hit the ball and steroids can't help that at all. What it CAN do is let someone survive the crazy MLB game schedule without injury, since one of the major effects of steroids is it helps the body heal. I would imagine the same effect would be in play helping an athlete train harder than would normally be possible without injury. You and I try and work out 8 hours a day for four years and our joints and tendons go to hell. Put someone on the juice and they can do that and reap all the benefits thereof. More batting practice = more skill even if the addsd strength doesn't do much else.

You and Iamright seem to have the same opinion on this. Me, I'm old. I just wish people didn't cheat. I'm gradually accepting that that may be an unrealistic desire to have.

Look at how their destroyer surrendered to a Somali pirate rowboat with an outboard motor in 2010....

It was just a joke, and a trite one, but white knighting the great valor of the French military is an uphill battle, Joe.
