I like the Romanian team, three look like they're sophomores in high school, the other two look like they just graduated college.

JerseyTim: The Egyptian fencer just fell off the mat or the court or the stage... what the heck is it called?

I think it's pieste or something like that in surrenderese. I briefly saw it on CC.

bbfreak: Sometimes it'll play fine, but more often than not and especially on very popular sports/heavily watched sports you get freezing.

It plays flawlessly for me with just a couple exceptions so far and one of those went away after a refresh the other after a browser restart. Granted I also run adblock plus so it's not jumping to commercials at all, which may or may not help.

Looks like he just posterized the South Korean right back.

the official name is piste pronounced peast

Cool, thanks.

I don't really like tennis but the France/Canada match on right now is pretty insane. 23-22

Gosling: Looks like he just posterized the South Korean right back.

I want a fencing poster where one dude is getting owned by the other one to hang next to my poster of Dr. J dunking on Jack Sikma.

JerseyTim: Cool, thanks.

no problem :) the word is also used in skiing to mean the official run.

Okay, the Egyptian and South Korean fencers officially do not like each other.

what happened?

2012-07-31 01:46:38 PM
JerseyTim: Ok, I like this a lot. However, let's make it the sequel, En Garde 2. The kid from the first one travels back to his old neighborhood and brings fencing with him.

Wait, he's introducing fencing to his old rich kid friends, the ones that never visited him in the ghetto? You had me and you lost me. Totally not believable.

bbfreak: Let me tell you people, who can't watch NBC's living streaming, it sucks. Sometimes it'll play fine, but more often than not and especially on very popular sports/heavily watched sports you get freezing. Now, I have a 150 mbps connection, so I know it isn't that. I've tried the streaming in several browsers, Opera, Chrome, Firefox. So that isn't it either.

Guess what, the "illegal" stream I found online does a better job without any issues at all. What does that say about NBC, that they can't even properly stream these events as well as so called illegal streams?

I particularly like the 'cut for ad break at set point' strategy they employ for volleyball

2012-07-31 01:48:53 PM
And Tsonga wins it 25 / 23. Ridiculous.

No, no, this is the kid from the first movie. The hard-scrabble kid from the wrong side of the tracks whose parents moved him to a posh high school where he learned to fence, fell in love and discovered who he was inside.

Maybe it's just me, but the USWNT is looking sloppy. Wet field? Tired? Just wanting to coast through an easy victory? Who knows.

2012-07-31 01:49:31 PM
I kind of dig our gymnasts' jackets on the medal podium. Classy and subtle, and in stark contrast to those of the other countries'.

Egypt up 6-4 in fencing with 2:27 left in the semifinals. He could become the first African ever to medal in the sport.

2012-07-31 01:51:04 PM
Ok, this is funny, the shortest US gymnast is taller than the tallest Romanian or Russian gymnast.

El Uno Magnifico: Wet field? Tired? Just wanting to coast through an easy victory? Who knows.

Wet field, also probably not wanting to mix it up too much with Best Korea who haven't exactly been playing particularly cleanly.

They don't seem to be taking many chances.

I like how they do the gymnastics team event before the individual stuff. Now they don't have to pretend they like each other.

Yeah, it basically means 'track' or 'trail' in French, fwiw, so you were spot on.

South Korean gets penalized for swiping at the Egyptian even after the South Korean's been knocked on his ass.

Next point, he charges at the Egyptian so hard he winds up halfway to the tunnel.

True.

Oh, and it's scary to see Wambach standing next to any random NK player. Holy crap, it's Gulliver.

2 yellows = a red
-card, this has nothing to do with Asians or a Communist,

2012-07-31 01:57:48 PM
There are three cards in fencing: yellow, red and black. Yellow's a warning, red's a point to your opponent, black is a DQ.

South Korean has two yellows and a red just since I found the match.

2012-07-31 01:58:25 PM
I mean a yellow and two reds, sorry.

Fencers yell at the referee more than the San Antonio Spurs.

Basically trying to kill the Egyptian and being the most reckless son of a biatch with a sword since Jack Churchill.

Alaaeldin Abouelkassem wins! He makes the shape of a medal on his chest with his hand. He will be the first ever African to medal in fencing. I can't wait for the final!

Nope, I turned that off to see if that was the problem too. Didn't make a difference. Like the final just now in gymnastic, was playing fine and then it just stopped for no reason. Oh, and worth noting there is at least a 30 second delay compared to BBC. I know this because I was watching swimming with my GB friend, and she called the results before I saw them. 30 seconds is a lot of time in swimming, and had to set a no spoiler rule with her. :P

A lot of extra ball touches in the box by the USWNT.

This is not a good thing.

There's been a debate as to whether the women's soccer team should have been allowed to compete at these Olympics after a major doping scandal at last year's World Cup, when five players tested positive for steroids and the nation was banned from the 2015 World Cup. Team officials offered a bizarre explanation, saying the players' positive tests resulted from receiving musk deer gland therapy after getting struck by lightning during a training camp. Asked if the team deserves to be at the London Games, Choe declined comment.

Wow, sounds like the Best Korean Ladies team has been through a lot
