You gotta hand it to him. He picked a great week to get caught beating off. I didn't even hear about it until a few days ago.

He had a show on ABC? Guess that tells you how much ABC I watch. Do they even *have* any shows worth watching?

I'm guessing it was more a matter of ratings. If you deliver an audience, you can get away with -
doing mountians of blow, hiring live-in whores, anti-Semitic rants, an epic fail live show tour, and still face a 90 episode pickup on FX.

But if you don't - ZOMG, cruising an adult bookstore? Kill it with fire!

Bonus absurdity: an adult bookstore is a place that never, ever sells any books.

He'll lay low for a year, then have a scene stealing role in another Christopher Guest movie and all will be forgiven.

This country and it puritanical streak....$10 bucks says that the people who made the decision to pull the show celebrated their brave decision with a bump of blow off a hooker's ass. And that the people who watched the show shrugged their shoulders on the news and went back to their Internet porn.

In other words, everyone's doing it so loosen the fark up, people.

Or a scene stealing role in any other comedy.

/Always a pleasant surprise when Fred pops up and delivers in a movie.

As long as we're making a big deal out of people masturbating in adult theaters, we should also go after people who drink beer in pubs, get haircuts at salons, buy gas at gas stations, etc.

So Fifty Shades of Gray made the NYT bestseller list entirely off of internet sales? While I guess that's possible it seems somewhat unlikely given that the target audience is bored housewives in their 40s/50s. And it's not quite hidden as another genre enough to be sold in anything but the adult books section.

It was a takeoff of "Whose Line is it Anyways", but retooled for celebrities. Usual suspects from the American show (Wayne Brady, Colin Mochire, Greg Proops, Ryan Styles, et al)., but, again, lacking the charm of the original

/Clive Anderson and Richard Vranch FTW!

This makes no sense. I don't care for Willard and I am about as prudish as they come and I don't see why what he did was a crime or why they'd take his show. With PeeWee, he was a children's entertainer so that made some sense. This makes no sense at all unless they were looking for an excuse because it was performing poorly anyway.

oh, and does "The Los Angeles City Attorney's office determined that Willard's case was eligible for a diversion program that will keep him from being formally charged with lewd conduct if he completes the required courses." mean they have a class in finding porn on the internet?

This never would've happened if Drew Carey were still hosting.

/Wait...this isn't Whose Line?

Arresting someone for having his pants open in a dirty movie theater makes as much sense as arresting someone for public nudity at a urinal.

Have we learned nothing from the Paul Reubens 'scandal?'

Get over yourselves, you prudes.

Fred's and ABC's yanks are merely coincidental. The show sucked.

Someone should have introduced him to the internet.

Hell, he's 72. His pants are probably open about 75% of the time. I think the part of the brain that controls zipping up is the first to go.

Fred Willard added nothing to the show. Yeah, it wasn't as good as the Whose Line franchise, but it was nice to see them try to put the band back together. Even if it was more like Blues Brothers 2000 without Drew and Stiles.

/Song mime was funny.
//So was Sideways Scene.

When will the jerk-offs at ABC realize that pulling everything off that they don't like will come back to haunt them? Also, jizz.

Really, ABC? Why does this sort of thing even matter these days?

Has Fred never heard of the internet? Why would anyone go to a XXX theater when you have the internet? More free porn than you could ever consume in a lifetime, catering to every possible desire and fetish... in the safety, comfort & privacy of your own home... How can adult theaters afford to even keep their doors open? Can they really be that busy?

Most 78 year-olds wouldn't know how to turn on a computer...and I'm guessing that jacking off in (semi-)public is a pretty popular fetish.

In an appearance last week on Jimmy Fallon's late-night show, Willard said he was embarrassed by his July 18 arrest but insisted he had done nothing wrong.

That's the problem. If he had been doing it wrong he would never have gotten busted.

2012-07-31 10:42:20 AM
Glad they pulled it

That show was awful. I tried to watch it a few times, but bad bad bad.

I loved the original(?) whose line that used to air on commedy central or whatever it was called back then.

The site gag of the - laying on the floor thing - was amusing, but not to kill it by doing it every show. And adding the celebrities just dragged the show down more...especially when they had them 'act' in one of the bits.

I'm a huge Fred Willard fan, and I really enjoyed Whose Line, but this show was cringe inducing.

What the hell are you talking about? They sell those books at Target, Walmart, etc.

-facepalm-

Of course the fact that ratings were in the crapper didn't help matters.

This and Anger Management's pickup proves one thing: "Winning (pardon the pun) cures all ills."

2012-07-31 01:07:31 PM
As stated it's all about the ratings.

You know what they don't sell at Target? Books about reading the whole thread before posting. It's a shame, as clearly that is a book I would learn a few things from.
