Actually, yeah he does.

Like most right-wing politicos, they're all about how wonderful right-wing Israel is and how Palestine is just a foolish ideology dreamed up by a bunch of naive jealous heretics.

I don't think you can understante the comment by McCain. If there's one thing McCain knows more than anybody, it's having no idea what he's talking about.

FTFA: "But facts of the booming Israeli economy has to do with the kind of government that the Israeli people have freely and democratically elected which has given them a very prosperous country"

Wait, last week the GOP was saying that prosperity was entirely the work of the individual entrepreneur. And this week they're saying that the business environment established by government makes the difference?

I can't keep up.

bankers are better people because they have carry all the money debt. That fits with Prosperity Gospel. Nicely done, Romney. Someone cut that lad another check.

MeinRS6: The truth is the American Palestinian terror culture is a TOTAL FAILURE. They actively teach hate and racism to children and blame all of their problems on others. They are 100% corrupt from top to bottom and there is no justice anywhere to be found in the entire system. The poison of Christianityislam hasn't exactly done wonders for anyone's individual rights or freedoms, or human rights in general. The entire place is one giant bucket of FAIL that needs to pretty much do a 180 in every aspect of the entire culture if they ever expect to have any success beyond scamming international aid for basics and funding more Christianistislamic terrorist activities.

Funny how it still works when you swap out a couple of key words for others.

Yes, what Romney said was idiotic.

While Palestine probably needs a cultural shift away from shooting rockets, maybe their oh so graceful neighbors need a cultural shift from not stealing shiat that isn't theirs. Any economy is gonna be great if it's the favored regional ally of the US as well as consistently encroaching on territory they have no claim to.

McCainAnd that goes to the leadership of the Palestinians. Everybody knows that Yasser Arafat was corrupt. And we also know that the Palestinian people have not been blessed with the kind of government that has lower regulations, less taxes, entrepreneurship, which have caused the Israeli economy to be one of the world's most successful.

Uhm, if you are looking for low taxes and no regulation - Palestine is the place for you!

Taxes are quite high in Israel and regulations are far more elaborate. Remember, Israel has compulsory military service and socialized medicine. Romney should HATE Israel for being the kind of place that Obama is coaxing America toward.

Shouldn't we update that idiom to "It's like the pot calling the kettle silvery grey?" All of my pots and my kettle are stainless steel now. I have cast iron fry pan, but no pot.

Actually, I have a lot of stainless steel, copper and Le Creuset. All different colors, so I don't know where to go.

You're right, it's all too confusing now. Let's just change it to "that's like the Mexican calling the Muslim brown."

It IS true that Arafat was corrupt.

But Arafat died years ago and there has been (relative) peace in both Gaza and the West Bank for the last few years, especially in the West Bank.

The truth is that Israel is an aparteid state and people in the West Bank are seen as second class citizens at beast, sub-humans at worst.

I really don't know how you libtards could have misinterpreted that.

I just have a hard time imagining Israel as a low-tax nation. Not only are their income taxes higher (48% is the top rate), but they have 16% VAT, 6.95% social security, 25% capital gains, and an unavoidable 24% corporate tax.

I care less about the socio-economic situation in Israel and Palestine than I do about a man who wants to be president of the United States pandering to foreigners.

The two are not mutually exclusive. He probably meant what he said, and STILL has no idea what he's talking about.

2012-07-30 04:35:22 PM
What I'm sure Gov. Romney was talking was that the Israeli economy has grown and prospered in a dramatic fashion. And unfortunately, the Palestinians have not had that same economic development.

Golly, wonder why.

Israel doesn't WANT a peaceful, constructive Palestinian state. It gets in the way of the far-right agenda to take the land their fairy tales promised them.

Wikipedia cites the Heritage Foundation's numbers for Israel as 36.7% of their GDP is tax revenues. In comparison, America's was 26.9%.

That made you look really stupid. There is no comparison between how Hamas runs Gaza and any part of the US.

It's really a paltry sum, sufficient only for the purchase of large amounts of bootstraps with which the Israeli people elevate themselves by virtue of their cultural superiority.

Close; his campaign said it is a disgusting misquote and that he was simply discussing a book about how economic advantage comes from cultural superiority, and that wasn't just a case for Israel and Palestine but for all nations. Also, journalists ran the story without first consulting the campaign for comment. They finally said they were willing to apologize for the state of journalism that any paper would run this story.
