Leeds: No other fast food place would buy the empty booths they would leave behind at all those mall food courts. They would sit empty for an eternity.

Yeah, they just might.

Disclaimer: I have never worked, nor will I ever work for Chick-Fil-A. I neither endorse nor condemn them for anything other than having tasteless chicken sandwiches and fantastic chicken nuggets.

I'm willing to bet good money that if you support Chick-Fil-A, you are likely a white, middle class suburbanite with conservative beliefs and values (pro-God, pro-Guns, pro-Life), have some kind of Republican party affiliation, disagree with homosexuality on some level, and probably attend church somewhat regularly.

If you not only do not support Chick-Fil-A, but take an active stand against them based on things that have recently been said or claimed about the corporate Monarch's beliefs and values, chances are pretty good that you are hard to pigeon-hole in any particular group, have progressive/liberal beliefs and values, are religiously open/non-committed/a-religious, anti death penalty, pro-choice, pro-homosexuality, and think that the mainstream religions are more about politics than anything.

Congrats, you all found one more thing to be divisive over. Hurray for no one; it's "us versus them" time again. But I'm not here to talk about the possible coming of a second Civil War and its precursors; I'm here to talk about the nearly schizophrenic dichotomy of the recent 'moral outrage' over S. Truett Cathy's personal stand on Homosexuality, in light of the scale of reaction to this alleged injustice compared to other, larger injustices which go ignored, and the actual moral implications of this reactionary way of thinking.

Let me put this issue in perspective for you:

Total number of slaves owned by Chick-Fil-A: None. Chick-Fil-A is a Post-Bellum establishment that complies with the Equal Opportunities laws as currently written, and pays all of their employees, who are free to leave at will at any time they wish to sever employment.

Total number of Homosexuals (or anyone else) put to death by Chick-Fil-A annually or ever: None.

Total number of humans killed or murdered in wars over Chick-Fil-A product: None.

Total amount of environmental damage or destruction caused by Chick-Fil-A: Negligible; Chick-Fil-A is committed to eliminating their environmental impact and footprint wherever possible. http://www.restaurantnews.com/chick-fil-a-receives-chains-first-leed-g old-certification-at-ft-worth-restaurant/

Total number of slaves owned in Saudi Arabia: Tens of thousands, and with sex slavery factored in, possibly MILLIONS. http://www.gvnet.com/humantrafficking/SaudiArabia.htm United Nations reports as high as Twelve Million: http://www.articlesbase.com/journalism-articles/islam-slavery-and-saud i-arabia-5981242.html

Total number of Homosexuals (or anyone else) put to death by Saudi Arabia: Hundreds, with thousands more tortured and imprisoned, and a standing policy that they all could be put to death.
http://wikiislam.net/wiki/Persecution_of_Homosexuals_%28Saudi_Arabia% 2 9

Saudi Arabia has a rather infamous status as a leader of the Death Penalty: Hundreds put to death in just three years between 2007 and 2010. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_punishment_in_Saudi_Arabia

Total number of humans killed or murdered in wars over oil: In Iraq alone, as many as 40,000 civilians, and if you take every single oil-related conflict into account since the end of World War II, the numbers are hard to pin down, and range from millions to tens of millions. There are so many varied accounts I didn't even know where to start with references, so you'll just have to have a sobering look for yourselves if you really want the hard numbers. Also, that doesn't even take into account deaths from pollution and murders over the control of land and mineral rights in Petrol-rich areas like South America, where tribes are regularly displaced or murdered with impunity by Big Oil. The truth is, you really don't want to know, do you? No, you really don't.

Total amount of environmental damage or destruction caused by the Petroleum Industry: $Trillions, possibly even incalculable, especially if you really believe that humans are the main cause of Global Climate Change. Again, nailing down specific numbers was... problematic, but the range was always outrageous.

Now let's crunch some numbers here.

Chick-Fil-A's total self-reported sales figures for 2011 were $4.1 billion. Divided up between the estimated 400 million Americans, that's an average of $10.25 per American per year. (I personally probably spent four times that much, just because they're closer than any other fast food joint that has a drive-thru and decent chicken nuggets.) Not bad, but not that much really if you think about it; that's merely one meal per person per year for every man, woman, child, and illegal alien living in this country. http://chick-fil-a.com/Company/Highlights-Fact-Sheets

Total Gasoline purchases by the average American, however, will total @ $4,155.00. That's at least 100x more than what I spent on chicken nuggets last year! http://theexpiredmeter.com/2011/12/americans-spend-record-in-annual-ga s-purchases/ Now guess where the original oil for that refined gasoline came from: 11% from Saudi Arabia, and 8.4% from the war-torn and heavily polluted Niger Delta. http://www.consumerenergyreport.com/research/crude-oil/where-the-us-ge ts-its-oil-from/

Saudi Arabia got anywhere from several hundred Billion dollars to $1.5 Trillion from the United States, depending on who you ask. http://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/balance/c5170.html

Based on 11% of the above figure of $4,155.00, that comes out to @ $360 per American per year spent on Saudi Arabia oil alone, or roughly 35x more spent on Slavery, Murder of Homosexuals, the Death Penalty, and general mistreatment of Women, than was spent at Chick-Fil-A where somebody has an opinion you don't like.

In summary: Are you boycotting Chick-Fil-A but still driving a gasoline-engine vehicle? THEN SHUT THE F*CK UP YOU DAMNED HYPOCRITE.

More likely that she was fired for a good reason and is now looking to benefit from the current controversy.
