Done in one. Like it or not, Mitt is right on this one.

Sure. The problem for him is that by being right, he's completely undermined half of his election platform.

There's the right way, the wrong way, and the Mitt Romney way.

/It's just the wrong way, but faster.

That was the initial release of Mitt. Our Mitt has Service Pack 2, and they supposedly fixed that glitch.

Paying doctors poorly enough to make them quit probably has something to do with it too

For some reason the medias treatment of Romney on his flip flops reminds me of this tree's treatment of the skier whose tracks we see.

I've confronted a conservative "friend" about his anti-ObamaCare hypocrisy, even though he lives in Mass and benefits from RomneyCare and supports Romney for President. He actually said - and I'm not joking - "Ted Kennedy forced Romney to pass the bill!"

I don't even...

I think he only needs one podium because observing him during the debates will inevitably collapse all of his quantum policy positions into one realization.

He hasn't been to Poland yet. So there is that to look forward to. I have confidence in Romney topping himself yet again.

Perhaps something about the ovens at Auschwitz being just the right height heat.

If private industry is behind this robot's programming, I think it is pretty damning for the ability of business to "go it alone" without government assistance.

Somebody step up and do the "I built that" schtick for Romney.

Bag of Hammers: The debates are going to be epic.

With the amount of prep that goes into the debates, I wouldn't be surprised to see Romney turn in a passable performance. By "Passable" I mean a D or C-, but not an epic failure.

Remember how we all assumed that Palin would literally combust and melt on the stage? She didn't, thanks to a spending a week of intense debate coaching that puts all Rocky training montages to shame. Ultimately, she just seemed kinda dull, but not "death panel" idiotic. And I kept waiting for Biden to troll the sh*t out of her, but it never happened.

Also, Obama never really goes for the jugular in formal debates. He's good, but he seems to focus on his own policies rather than slaughtering the other guy. Maybe that will change this year, I dunno. Americans don't want to hear about your successes as the incumbent (there are many, and people already likely to vote for him don't need reminders); they want to see an epic beatdown. B-Rock (the Shock) Obama vs. Willard (Stone Cold Mittens) Romney.

I mentioned this...and he said it was via "political pressure", since Kennedy was such a powerful force in Mass politics he supposedly threatened to bury Romney politically.

Then I mentioned that Romney praised MassHealth as late as 2009...long after Kennedy left office, just several months before he passed away and well after he had any influence over Romney and he stuck to his guns.

Then I asked if this didn't mean that Romney is essentially a coward how would make a terribly weak president...he just ignored me.

Delusions must be a prerequisite for holding Conservative ideology.

tjassen: re Israeli health care system:

I live in Jerusalem.
Three week ago I broke my arm after being hit by a car while riding my bike.
I was taken by ambulance to the emergency room where the waiting room was backed up due to a doctor shortage and illegal aliens getting free healthcare. I was supposed to get xrayed but the rationing prevented it, so they just put in a cast and told to get checked out at my Kupat Holim (HMO) in a week year and sent home. A week year later showed up at the Kupa's orthopedic clinic without an appointment and was turned away, so I setup an appointment and waited nine hours to see the doctor, got new xrays because I pulled the winning rationing lottery draw and was referred to one of the hospitals for surgery on my arm. Was admitted that night, (Sunday), Wednesday morning they did surgery to put in a plate to hold the bones together and forced me to get an abortion before I was released Friday but my case was reviewed by the Death Panel and I was sentenced to death.

Total cost to date: 290,000 shekels, covered by hard-working tax payers for the xrays at the clinic, and 600,000 shekels (appx. $150 million US) for the ambulance ride, which just might get paid by either the hard-working tax payers or stolen at gunpoint from all of the local small business owners .

Yeah I'm currently awaiting firing squat in a FEMA camp, but thats still pretty damn good as far as I'm concerned.

Please. We all know how socialist medicine really works here.

Yeah, your friend is an idiot. Romney made it very clear he had no intention of running for a second term, so there was *literally* nothing Kennedy- and his so-called influence- could have done for him.

It was ALWAYS clear that Romney wanted to run for President, and it was always PAINFULLY clear that he intended to do this by tracking to his right.

Ted Kennedy couldn't "bury" him in GOP politics, obviously.

2012-07-30 03:18:14 PM
Healthcare in Israel ain't all that great if you don't have the right DNA. In fact, your hospital will probably be bombed at some point because some teenager threw a battery at an IDF soldier. So you go to the only other hospital you know of, but it's been converted into lofts for crazy settlers from Eastern Europe.

Sock Ruh Tease: Oh, man. You know Obama is going to run with this in the worst possible way for Romney. "Mitt Romney supports my crown achievement in my first term of office." It gets the left to vote for Obama. It gets the right to either vote third party, or not vote at all. I predict by 2013, the GOP will be a lot weaker and the Libertarians will be a little stronger. Not sure how that makes me feel.

So basically you are saying that the Libertarian Party will (continue to) be less libertarian as "Independents" flee the Republican Party and join the ranks?

Newsflash: people who only do something purely for the money may quit when the money's not there. It's only a problem if it results in a permanent shortfall. Furthermore, I'd argue that such personalities shouldn't be in such a profession anyway.

Also, where are these doctors going? Just curious. The story has the faint aroma of bullsh*t.

Yeah, I didn't think so.

what does that have to do with anything?

Nothing, that's what.

Actually, at the end of the day, it's ALL that matters. If it had no demonstrable effect on the health of Israelis, then the entire assertion is a complete waste of time.

not when discussing the the relative inexpensiveness of Israeli vs American healthcare. The fact that they pay their doctors relatively poorly probably has quite a bit to do with that. Do try to stay on track.
