You're going to rationalize their blood lust? I mean, it's pretty pathetic that they have to resort to it, but when you have zero influence over such matters, I guess it's all you have to vent frustrations with a world that just keeps on moving no matter how much you piss and moan about it. I wouldn't think you would stoop to either doing it or excusing it.

Scalia brushed off Obama's comments aimed at the court regarding the healthcare law and a campaign finance ruling.

"What can he do to me? Or to any of us?" Scalia said. "We have life tenure and we have it precisely so that we will not be influenced by politics, by threats from anybody.

Oh lord, someone fetch my fainting couch!

Never mind that Scalia would rather have a senile old man on the bench than someone appointed by a democrat. Everyone else is the problem.

Well, that's a good reason to pray for his death, Pat. He'd clearly be the first Supreme Court Justice to set on the bench well into old age perhaps longer than he should.

No one is praying for anything, Francis. Do you think it is good for justices to stay on the court until they die for political reasons?

When Antonin Scalia decides he's not leaving the bench any time soon, the FARK politics thread decides it's time to "stack the Court." Charles Bronson and Rob Schneider star in "Derp Wish."

It's always time to stack the court. When justices can't be removed by any means, court stacking is the only defense against court stacking.

We give Federal Judges and Justices Life-tenure to insulate them from the winds of changing popular opinion and let them be faithful to the LAW and the will of the people. This is generally a good thing. but ti is worth noting that most states make thier judges go into retirement at age 70 or so, figuring that after that their mental faculties are not equal to the task of being a judge. I've never liked much of WHAT Scalia has decided, but I used to have tremendous respect for his analytical and reasonsing skills. In the past 10 years though? Not nearly as much. The signs of his decline are fairly obvious if you look for them
