The need to wipe out the disgusting Hardee's brand and make it Carl's Jr. nationally. Thickburgers are putrid compared to western bacon cheeseburgers.

Your kids are starving. Carl's Jr. believes no child should go hungry. You are an unfit mother. Your children will be placed in the custody of Carl's Jr.

Hardee's was a great chain until Carl's Jr. Got their hands on it.

They still sell the cinnamon-raisin biscuit, so they've got that going for them.

Carls Jr just started popping up in Houston..
Went to one, thought it tasted like Burger King, don't care for Burger King
One is being built down the road from my house, doubt I will go...

Loved Hardees when I was a kid... we used to stop at one on the Kansas turnpike every year when we would go to Kansas City for summer vacation...

Always like Hardees too, but (at least in Ohio), it seemed Hardees were only in small towns that didn't have a McD's. When they got big enough to get a McDonalds, the Hardees went out of business.

That and one rest stop on the OH turnpike back in the day. There was also a Rax on the westbound side too - that's how long ago it was...

Carls had a niche for a long time in serving the variety of things they serve at a fast food joint(waffle fries, onion rings, interesting cheeseburger varieties, integrating the Green Burrito into their menu) while most burger fastfood joints had bland burger offerings a bit of fried chicken patties or fish patties. They were also the only one taking credit cards for a long time(here in SoCal at least). Now... well, Burger King and JITB has duplicated most of the menu and everyone takes creditcards.

Now that the niche is gone and there is a JITB within a few hundred feet of my doorstep for when I want onion rings and a western bacon cheeseburger clone, so I rarely step in to a Carls anymore

Grew up with Burger Chef. Once they converted over to Hardee's they closed pretty quickly.

Why go public after 50 years in business and you're already nation wide?

You must live on the East Coast

Carl's Jr. and Jack in the Box are the two best large fast food chains.

And I don't live near either one of them.

F* KERS!

You aren't missing anything, both are better than Burger King or McDonalds, but not by much IMHO.

/ live within 4 miles of both Carl's Jr. and Jack in the Box
// have to drive 40 miles if i have a craving for Five Guys Burgers and Fries... ;-(

It took me a minute to sort that out. There was the part about Apollo CKE being the sole shareholder.

Sorry. T'was late.

Lots of loyal shareholders got burned when they pulled the "let's go private" thing. Insiders did ok, though. Crooked bassuds.

'zactly. I always figure that the fix was in when a company that was taken private goes public a few years later after no real improvements have been made, and generates massive profits for the insiders.

Not a better IPO story than facebook. If their record on farking up my orders (100%) is any indication on how the IPO will be run they'll wind up being delisted in the first 30 seconds

/order the biggest carnivorous burger they sell
//given a salad

The 6-dollar-burger was originally much cheaper, and the name was meant to be an indication that you were getting much more than you paid, that it would cost $6 somewhere else.

Now, how much is the 6-dollar-burger? It's getting pretty close to $6. What are they going to do when it reaches/passes $6?
