I don't kayak, but I sailed a lot in the Boy Scouts back in the day, all the way til I was 18. We used to have a lake house and a little Sunfish sailboat I used to go out on. One of my coworkers is huge into kayaking, though. I know next to nothing about it.

Yeah it's a fake river. I guess they were using the Thames for other things? I remember a joke that Jeff Foxworthy had about the Atlanta games that was actually funny:

The idea of this part is to make it look like you are having a ride through the couintryside and jumping over the stuff that tends to be left around. Makes it less dull to watch and to ride. The jumping event later on is just some posts and bars in a ring.

That's what they use for the jumping inside the stadium, the show jumping event. For the cross country event they've used jumps with all sorts of funky set ups and looks for ages.

Not really. In college gymnastics the difficulty is just as high but at least the women can stick everything. Then again college gymnasts tend to look a bit stronger physically than their Olympic counterparts.

They also tend to look like they're enjoying themselves and what they're doing, instead of being petrified with fear.

My favorite volleyball memory: I went to this small college that had a decent volleyball program thanks to our crazy Ukrainian coach. He used to get players from former Soviet countries. We had this (gorgeous) six-foot Bulgarian that was easily the best player in the conference.

One time, she went up for a shot and drilled the ball right into the face of some girl from Navy. I mean, just *SPLAT*! Her teammates cringed. She actually cried on the court. It was incredible.

I'm not watching right now, but I think you've got the vocabulary slightly off. Blocks at the net don't count; in fact someone who blocks can be the next person to play the ball. 'Tips' are an offensive move (more or less anything deliberately over the net one-handed that isn't a big swing) that do count as one of the three.

/When PSU was on its 3rd? of 4 National Championships in a row, we played her team for the NC. They seemed to just neutralize her. It's scary to think how good she is PLAYING WITH Penn Staters.
