DoctorRock: ontariolightning: Trocadero: DoctorRock: Taking another look at the scene, it is definitely Sonic & Sega Racing All Stars. One minor quibble, however, is that Xbox controllers don't have the tilt sensor in them like the PS3 controllers do, so truning the controller like a steering wheel doesn't do anything.

im not a huge video game nerd, but ive always tilted the controller when ive played racing games, even without motion control. i dont even realize im doing it.

I remember the first time I ever played Super Mario Brothers on the brand new NES we got on Christmas day, I kept pulling the controller up in the air when Mario jumped. Little kids and girls tend to do that the very first time they ever handle a game controller, especially those of us who were 5 or so when we got an NES. Many, many people moved the NES controller around the first time they ever used it.

i didnt get an NES until i was 13

A well- read copy of Walt Whitman's "Leaves of Grass". Why?? I have no idea.

Also, did anyone catch that they were watching the SAME PREVIEWS FOR AMC'S "MOB WEEK" that we were!? wow.

I ended up with piles of that worthless piece of shiat, so I sold the "business" to Teddy, shiat rolls downhill. Grit has since been sold off and made into some sort of actual periodical aimed at the agrarian-set.

You mean Lance?

Well played.

On a different note, my wife described the episode as "boring." WTF? I thought it was pretty good; you can't have a bunch of murders every episode, and they did a good bit to advance the storyline, imho.

Anyone have any idea what the song was that was playing while Walt & Jesse were cooking? I liked it.

Took me a hell of a time to find it. Shazam got it wrong, and a Google lyric search didn't do much good. Finally found it on an AMC wiki board. "On a Clear Day You Can See Forever" by The Peddlers. From 1968. Found an MP3 on Google. Watched the video on YouTube. I was surprised the lead singer's a white guy. Great tune from a band I never heard of.

ontariolightning: walt you self preservation asshole
you just sold skyler out to save your ass

He would not have to sell her out if she had not given all thier money to her tax dodging boyfriend, whose books she helped cook.

Seriously, she helps herself to all that money like she is the banker in monopoly and then turns into a little biatch when Walt is forced to stand and fight because she spent all the money.... FARK her!!

I don't know if they covered this in the episode, but... wouldn't the homeowners get suspicious that their energy bills spiked on the few days they were out of the house?

Do any power companies give out daily usage rates on the bills? They'd probably chalk it up to the fumigation anyway.

Perhaps. I still think it's another trail for Hank to sniff out.

Also, I assume that Walt's comment at the end means that he wants to knock Mike down a peg - but arguing with Mike about his business is a bit too ironic. I predict that Walt will turn one of Mike's people (probably Todd) into a weak link, with the intention of accusing Mike of not managing his end. Walt's specialty is besting people he could never take on face-to-face, so Mike's professionalism is going under fire.

I was wondering this myself.

Unless the bill spikes into the thousands of dollars they will probably chalk it up.

Is it just me or has the Walt-Jesse-Mike-Saul dynamic this season turned into some kind of dumb version of the A-Team, or as the show alluded to, The Three Stooges. It's been a while since I saw any of the previous seasons but I really don't remember it being this comical and over-the-top goofy/stupid.

I'm still enjoying it, but the show seems a lot different than before. Jesse's character seems totally incongruous to how he was in the past, and the now ramped up depiction of Walt as a now complete narcissistic maniac has gotten a little ridiculous. Were we supposed to infer in episode 2 that he was raping Skyler? At the rate it's going I cannot wait for literally every character except Saul and Hank to get theirs.

I think its harder to build a compelling narrative now that the main conflicts that dominated the preceding seasons have been resolved (Gus, Cancer, etc.) The conceits about needing more money, the vague threat of the DEA, and Walt's increasingly psychopathic behavior aren't really gripping or "relatable" enough yet. Will be interesting to see if it/how it leads anywhere as things progress.

I remember that.

It was inside his condo that he did that, right?

Tonight he mentioned that he was going to keep the condo because if he sold it now, in this economy, he would take a killing.

I think this might be where Walt becomes a character we no longer can have any sympathy for, as anything that was once good about him as a person has gone. Walt was likeable when he was doing things for a reason, whether it was to pay for the cancer treatment, Hank's physiotherapy or to provide a nest egg for his family. Now he just looks like he is doing it out of greed and for a power trip. Mike is the one with the most sense out of the lot, Mike is paying off the other guys to save all their skins, and Walt cannot see it purely because his ego is too big. While once he might have had to lie on the spot in order to save his own skin, now almost everything he says is a way to manipulate all and sundry. But then I was always under the impression that the series was going to be about how a man can go bad.

Contamination!

I'm terribly afraid of this show ending stupidly, as did Lost (which actually started stupid and just went from there) and The Killing, dumbest farking ending imaginable after a two season investigation. Sud is a hack and the world is better now that it's been cancelled. I rarely follow series' to their ends, but BB has me hooked (Walt's metamorphosis is just astounding to watch), please please please don't go all fantastically and unbelievably retarded at the end.

Skylar should break bad on her own, and take Walt out in the name of greed, a fitting end to the piece of shiat.

It will be in a mutually agreed upon set-up so Hank's career benefits and Walt's family is unscathed & secure. Walt's cancer will be what actually kills him, it was obvious in the way Walt's last check-up was minimized.

Actually, that's the second time Walt Whitman was mentioned in the show. Gail had a quote by him in his diary that Hank found, and Hank thought at first it was a link to Walter

So sometime in the next week or two will be Walt's 51st birthday, meaning we still aren't a whole year away from the series premiere. Yet the fast forward is already at his 52nd. So I guess at some point we'll have some large passage of time or a montage as Walt's business grows, with him getting even more overconfident, before the fall begins.

I'm really thinking that the flash-forward won't be until the series finale at this point. That's a lot of ground to cover in only eight episodes.

The cigarette was never a delivery method, only a way to hide the vial. If someone tried to smoke it, they would likely realize the cigarette wasn't normal. Also, the ricin would do anything as long as it's contained in the vial. The cigarette would just burn outside it.

I just got caught up and holy shiat what a monster Walt has turned into. If Skyler did kill him I wouldn't blame her and then him basically tempting fate with Mike. Mike knows what the fark is up and Walt does not, something makes me think that'll be a mutual self destruction scenario though.

I don't remember Mike smoking ever. He yelled at Jesse once for wanting to light up.

He should just shoot Skylar in the face, and her sister too.

True. But my overall point is that Walt has a vial of Chekhov's ricin, And right now there is one person who Walt is starting to conclude may need to be taken out, and another person who, as much as Walt wouldn't want to do it, has been acting more and more erratic and will probably start dropping none to subtle threats about telling all to Hank and Marie.

That was when Jessie was trying to smoke in the car. Didn't Mike have a cigarette in his hand when he was drinking in the bar? Either way, I 'm guessing the ricin is going to be used, or attempted to be used, on Mike. Or Skyler if she keeps going on like she has.

I think one of Walt's problems is going to be his overconfidence in his control over Jesse. I think it's very possible that when Walt goes after Mike, which seems to be happening sooner rather than later, Jesse may give Mike a heads-up.

The ricin gets used on Skylar. It's been featured way too often to not get used on someone. If he ends up taking out Skylar, he'd probably go with poisoning over something more violent.

By the way, is the ricin hidden in his condo or the White's home? Until the condo was brought up in this episode, I had completely forgotten that he was still living elsewhere.

2012-07-30 10:00:39 AM
Ricin is in his house, in the bedroom. If he kills Skylar, he'll have to raise the baby on his own.

I've watched the entire series all in the past two weeks. I am always late to the party when it comes to good series. It's just so hard for me to believe that there's still good stuff on tv.

Did anyone else notice in the flash forward that Walt presented out-of-state ID with a different name for the free birthday breakfast? Sounds like he disappears himself (and family?) at some point...
