How can farking lead to depression? It's pretty much the antithesis of that!

Jon iz teh kewl: so is casual sex good or bad? i can't determine that from the context of the article.

Well, casual is casual, and sex is good, so i'd say it's casually good

It's often said how many people die each year due to alcohol, but they don't have a clue how many are caused by alcohol...

Liquor THEN stick her...

"I can't believe I'm such a failure that I need artificial chemicals to feel normal." Well, you're fine as long as you don't come off them. Mostly. Side effects of antidepressants can be pretty depressing too.

I thought for sure that it would lead to frantic monkey sex. Huh.

2012-07-30 07:06:00 AM
So what they're saying is that no casual sex existed anywhere, ever until the scourge of boozy energy drinks came along?

FTA:
Participants in the study were more likely to use a condom during sex with a casual partner than during sex with a steady partner, consistent with previous research, but a steady or committed partner is a less risky prospect than a casual partner whose sexual history is unknown, Miller said, so a condom might not feel as necessary.

umm... huh?

Wait....so alcohol-fueled drinks significantly lowers one's inhibitions and often lead to frequent sexual encounters? NO. WAY.

Well, DUH. Some of the freakiest sex I've had was while on vodka & Red Bull.

And that wasn't when I was in my 20s, either.

so...HA!

If there's a farkette that would like to verify these studies with me, we can also see if there's a difference in type or quality of casual sex between drink mixes. It's for science!

alcohol is linked to casual -- often risky -- sex among college-age adults

1). It's "college age" or "adults." Pick one. It can't be both. College-age kids are postadolescent, hormone-drunk yahoos. I know, i was one, once.

2). You know what else leads to casual sex for college-age kids? A light breeze. Thursdays. A midnight showing of "Spongebob, The Movie." Linguini. Eye contact. Beer pong. Church. Separating your whites. Irish stepdancing. Russian class. Begonias. The plight of the manatees. Regis Philben. Flintsones chewables. To name just the obvious ones.

3). If none of those things leads to casual sex, you're doing your 20s wrong. Try harder.

4). People who do these studies on college and university kids should be dragged before the international social sciences court in the Hague.

Cloudchaser Sakonige the Red Wolf: I still don't get the idea of mixing a stimulant (caffeine) with of a depressant (alcohol)

The idea seems to be that the stimulant covers the effect of the depressant. You are still drunk, but your kinda amped, so you dont think your drunk. Worst problem related to it so far is a drastically increased likelihood to drive drunk. Theres no feeling of being drunk thanks to the stimulant, but theres still the slowed and sloppy reactions due to the depressant. Im fairly sure most of the counties in my area have banned the sale of them for that reason.

uhm, back in the 80's when I was in college we did not have energy drinks, but there was a lots of Everclear and 151 Rum and plenty of casual hook ups occurred including pregnancies and STD's. I don't think you really need the caffeine to make it happen, just the ethanol and desire and various dicks and various glistening holes and young, firm breasts and backsides and and and, but my guess is the ethanol helps fuel a lot of the hook ups..........

I'm more concerned about the obestiy those energy drinks might be leading to....kids are gonna fark booze or not booze

They don't cancel each other out. The alcohol lowers your inhibitions, the caffeine makes you energetic.

I've done some crazy shiat under the influence of Jager Bombs (Jagermeister + Red Bull, for those who have never been a 20-something partier).

Right, blame the sex and booze but not the pregnancies, STDs, or rape. Idiots.

Before these drinks we just took caffeine tablets with our alcohol - worked a treat and lots of casual sex :D

Miss those days when I didn't mind who I woke up with :p
