I would lose respect for him if it was. The R&RHOF is a joke.

Actually I think the R&RHOF is a possibility now. After decades of slogging the band, Rolling Stone (published by Jann Wenner, the guy who more or less unilaterally decides who gets in to the HOF) has noticed all of these other bands that they like saying how much they were influenced by Rush and has started to go out of their way to praise the band recently.

Personally I hope Geddy and co. tell them all to go to hell but they're much too polite Canadian for that.

Not a huge Rush fan but not a hater either. That was pretty cool. The chick at 5:00 in is worth a look too.

What about the voice of Geddy Lee? How did it get so high?

I wonder if he speaks like an ordinary guy?

Someday....

Someday I will get around to making the video for 2112 that I've been planning for about 15 years or so now. I have it all figured out, I need about 8 actors a couple of matte painters and a good cave by a stream, and I'm set... As a matter of fact, I may have found my cave last week up in the mountains, now that I think about it. Anyway, once I shoot and produce the video, I can die happy, even if nobody ever sees it.

Gonna get to see 'em for free in November, and 'might' even get to go backstage and met them. My buddy's pull at the radio station he works for has gotten him backstage the last 3 or 4 times they've come through town.

My comment was not snark or a jab at Geddy/Rush....they should have been in the Hall decades ago.

Rush in Rio was amazing. Brazil was waiting for YEARS to see Rush and they did not disappoint on a night filled with heat, humidity, and major downpours at the Sao Paulo show the night before in 2002. The fans were singing right along with Tom Sawyer and YYZ, and even doing an improvised soccer-style chant near the end of Natural Science.

Clockwork Angels is good stuff

They probably deserve it - they'll let anyone in these days.

2112 and Permanent Waves were great albums. They had some other decent albums, but they really haven't done much since the early '80s in my opinion. Just look at the link. It goes to 2112 and Limelight. I watched it. 2112 still stands the tests of time, but Limelight was sort of lame by comparison.

Thank you for all the great music Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart. You guys are awesome. Rush was the soundtrack of my formative years.

From Freewill, Fly By Night and Closer to the Heart through Tom Sawyer, Limelight, Red Barchetta and Spirit of Radio all the way up to Far Cry you guys have been cranking out music that I can't imagine living without.

Happy Birthday Geddy! Not bad for a nebbish kid from Toronto. You have stood the test of time. When you guys are dragged into the R&R Hall of Fame against their prog rock bias that will be one hell of a party.

Have a go at Clockwork Angels...
'80's are what they are, '90's too, mostly.
Neil was tossed into the meat grinder twice in the late '90's first with his daughter in a car crash, then his first wife with no fight in her after the daughter, dying of cancer 10 months later.
Vapour Trails had a song or two...but it's taken a long time for Neil to get back into the game... Feedback was his new wife's idea, they'd not done covers before.
Snakes and Arrows was pretty good too...

I have Feedback on CD. It was okay. I'm listening to Clockwork Angels at the moment. It's not bad, but so far it doesn't strike me as all that good either. Seems like something for the more serious Rush fans. That's cool. I understand. There are a few bands that I like that I'll listen to anything they record. Rush isn't one of them. I kind of lost interest after Moving Pictures which is also the last album of theirs I bought (aside from Feedback).

Heh - I was about to say all their music since then sounds bland and the same but BU2B isn't that bad. It's certainly no 2112 but maybe I should listen to the rest of the album before I criticize them too much.

I am sorry, did that asshat "journalist" say that Geddy was a "punk rocker?" WTF? Is it that hard to google just a little and get the right info?

Guess it depends on the "fan". For the fan who reads People Magazine and hangs on the details of the lives of celebrities, I guess they would want it. I don't know any Rush fans like that though. The Work is all, recognition by the whorebeast American pop music machine seems more like an insult than anything to be proud of.

My friend and I were talking about this very thing before a BNL concert back in 2005. We came to the conclusion that Geddy had a roadie kick him in the nuts just before he went onstage.
