So, they go from regular gymnastics to rhythmic gymnastics to prove their point? The Daily Fail living up to their name.

consider this: Turn on NBC and check out the great asses on the Argentinian volleyball chicks.

Crap it's over. I need some sort of alert system to notify me of these broadcast matches.

If you're expected to smile while doing it, it isn't a sport.

Really? I have little interest in how skimpy or sparkly outfits are when worn by 3' tall female hobbits.

Ahh, thoroughly enjoying the Olympic so far. Just today alone got to see: dressage, beach volleyball, archery, swimming, and lots of boxing. Just awesome!

I got to see beach volleyball and soccer games of countries other than mine. Rowing qualifications. Lots of swimming (including the men 4x100 freestyle where everyone surrendered to the French) and springboard diving.

/Canada. 2 sports channels + 2 "regular" channels with all-day Olympic coverage. Having 2 official languages has its advantage.

The asses on the Ukranian diving team might have been the best in the Olympics and I have watched tons of volleyball, beach volleyball, and gymnastics. Seriously.

Great Scott!

Hey Daily Fail....skin-colored fabric on a leotard covering the upper chest (or what passes for a chest on these chicks) does not equal "strapless".

Beat me up for saying it but I still have a problem with sports that have artistic or style points. When you go there it seems that you have crossed out of athletics into something else.

Quite right. Neither does skin-coloured fabric covering from neck to ankle qualify as there being a lot of skin on display.

Yeah. I'm not a big fan of gymnastics, but I find it very annoying that they'll deduct points from a woman's routine because she didn't arc her back a certain way after the dismount, or because she didn't smile, or because she didn't include enough "dance components" in her balance beam or floor exercise routine. If someone has perfect form, poise, and execution why should considerations of style and presentation matter? That such concerns only seem to come up in women's events makes it even more insulting.

You know, there is such a thing as men's gymnastics (and figure skating), which also include points for style and presentation.

Not to such an extent, though. Compare men's "Tumbling" to women's "Floor exercise". See also pommel horse vs balance beam. And when was the last time a male gymnast was deducted for not thrusting his chest out after a dismount, or for not holding his hands splayed out behind him properly, or for insufficient "vogue"ing in his routine?
