No. I've never been geeky enough to want to make a homemade PS3 out of a cell phone and a PS3 controller.

Thanks for asking.

No, because my PS3 is connected to a very large television. I don't want to turn it into a Gameboy because I'm not 14 years old.

Headline is a bit misleading there, subby. The article is about mounting an Android phone onto a connected PS3 controller to play Android arcade games, not making a PS3 out of a cell phone.

Since he cant play any PS3 games on that phone, he didn't really make a PS3 now did he?

That seems like a lot of effort. Especially when you can get the same result by withdrawing a few hundred squid from the bank, holding it in your hand, and shiatting upon it. While you're at it, make sure that that your other hand has a firm grip on your potential. Then use this other hand to smack the pooped-upon hand, and scream "THAT'S RIGHT, I TOLD YOU I WOULD BE SOMETHING ONE DAY, FITNESS DAD."

What Hawcian said. I could not believe that they could glue (pun) that chip in a cell.
But someday it will be so. I would like to start a thread on wear controllers will go. Regardless people like playing on hand controllers over say kinect but who knows where we will be in 25 years or even 5.

I'm looking to get an android in a few months. Are arcade games easy to come by?

Holy crap! This guy managed to somehow get his bluetooth controller to work with his bluetooth enabled phone! Holy crap! Then he used some wires to hold his phone to the controller?! MAD GENIUS!

/If you can't tell, I'm unimpressed.

I dont get it, how will the controller help him play angry birds.

How about hooking up a tablet to a keyboard, mouse, and floppy drive?

What pisses me off is that Sony doesn't support a BT tablet or phone connected to the PS3, to use as a keyboard.

Really, how hard would it be to make an android and apple app, and throw it in the store.

Sony's good at hardware, but damn they're shiat with software, support and web 2.0....

(Actually, not good at hardware anymore either)

To the headline's question: no.
But I did spend a few days last week programming and industrical computer and touchpanel to play both pong and tetris. That's gonna be a nice little addition to just hide intsome factory machine.

"Sorry the assembly line got back up a bit boss. Jeff was waiting on an I piece to clear four lines before he hit pause."

My next project is to find an old NES controller at some yard sale and try to connect it in as a control device. The problem's going to be that it expects a 5V signal and my PLC can only send out 24. I'm gonna try to get two, just in case the 24 volts lets the smoke out of the first.

That's not what "Cell processor" means, dummy.

MoronLessOff: I'm looking to get an android in a few months. Are arcade games easy to come by?

The best emulator I've found is Mame4Droid Reloaded. Not every Mame ROM will run, but it can do quite a few. The original TMNT arcade game, WWF Wrestlefest, the Simpsons arcade game, NBA Jam. I have had issues with some older games, oddly enough. Stuff like Ms Pacman just doesnt seem to want to run. Also highly recommend any of the good NES/Genesis/SNES/Gameboy emulators. If you decide to root, the Sixaxis controller app is amazing.
