This means Mitt Romney is automatically president, and Obama has to walk the queen's Corgis.

I have to admit, I actually kind of get a kick out of those "lesser" sports like badminton and table tennis. This is pretty much all they have.

Not to say that it has the drama to draw a lot of viewers but badminton is a seriously aerobic sport. It ain't easy.

One of my college buddies is a former badminton player-turned-umpire who officiated at the previous two Olympics (not sure if she's in London right now). It's never been very popular in the U.S., but has quite a following in many Asian countries.

It's also counted as the fastest racquet sport there is, the shuttlecocks can reach over 200mph after a solid smash

Sounds like corporations bought tickets and no one at said corporations took them up on it. Also known as, how the Red Sox keep the streak alive.

\well, that and a shiatload of pinkhats and drunk frat boys who are in the bars on Lansdowne by the fifth inning

They're not in the "bought" blocks. They're the Olympic Family sections. IE VISA, McDonalds, Coca-cola.

The plan is to now fill them with service personal and school kids.

I love watching the smaller sports. These kids probably gave up having a childhood to play handball/badminton/etc and the only time they're around other people who understand is at the Olympics.

Yesterday we had fencing and archery. Why were those not prime-time sports? Do that many Americans really want to see underage people leap about for a score?

Well, maybe in central PA...

I can only speak for this American, but I want to see ALL of the sports get coverage on U.S. TV. Not just mostly events that freature U.S. competitors. Olympics coverage sucks in the U.S.

If it is like previous olympics the refs are much quicker to call fouls. I predict a few US players foul out before adapting.

Smart play by Carmelo... probably the last time I'll say that for a few years.

2012-07-29 09:51:54 AM
This game is going to get called early in the third quarter at the rate both teams are fouling.

I'm disappointed in Craig Sager's outfit

2012-07-29 09:55:13 AM
That jackass Criag Sager is actually dressed normally... this is the miracle of the Olympics.

Nice graphic showing how good the Spurs are at evaluating overseas talent... 6 current Spurs in the Olympics for foreign teams plus Scola (who they drafted).

Haha, yeah, I hate cheering for him to be a ball hog.

What? The tickets all went to corporate sponsors who could not be bothered to use them? I am shocked!

Carmelo should be under orders to never take a 3.

Yeah, I didn't understand that either. Maybe he meant the shape of the whistle?

Wow, Westbrook deciding that he'd like to make a bonehead play in the Olympics.

FTA: "One angry punter at the Olympic Park told BBC television he blamed corporate ticket-holders."

He wanted to jerk it with more people around?

Harden hid behind his beard and was able to get behind the defense there.

From Wikipedia: A whistle may also contain a small light ball, usually called the pea, which rattles around inside, creating a chaotic vibrato effect that intensifies the sound.

This is what the NBA would look like if every foul was whistled...

Does NBC have a farking clue what they're doing? They have women's cycling on NBC right now and USA basketball on NBC Sports. I don't think there's any doubt as to which one is going to bring in the better ratings. The only thing that would make sense is if they planned on showing the game on NBC during prime time.

I think it's awesome they have cycling on NBC. It's a medal event, it should get the better access.

I think the way they handled the Opening Ceremony pretty much showed they have no idea about what people want to see.
