EnviroDude: cman: EnviroDude: cman: Well, duh.

The billboard compares the President to a mass murderer, which does nothing but portray the typical stereotypes of black men being monsters. All this right-winged fool is doing is just spreading his bigotry

It has nothing to do with being black. How about the number of Mexicans killed as a result of our ATF exporting guns. How about the number of people killed by our illegal war in Afghanistan.

What I posted was satire

What I posted is what is being ignored by the democrats the dumbest thing most of the people in this thread have read today.

It's politics and is its fair.

Dralenan: The billboard in question's been here for a very long time, always showing "humorous" statements about politics, most are patently forgettable. Over the last several years, it seems to have grown more rabid, and I have mentioned in other places my concerns about the sign's potential for danger. Then you see something like this...it's shameful. It's disgusting. And sadly, it's politics as usual.

So you can tell us about all the hateful messages that were posted about Bush, right? Because this guy is a true libertarian and not a partisan hack.

Dralenan: I would like to say this is not representative of Caldwell. I would like to say that in general, there people in Caldwell are more sensitive and intelligent than this. Sadly, I cannot. The sheer, blind hatred of the president in this area since the moment he was nominated is staggering. The day after the election I was overhearing people wishing for and discussing assassination. Now I avoid any political discussions with people here, you simply can't have them.

At least Potlatch has its share of people who work at the area universities. For a real "family wreath" town, try Bovill.

Empty Matchbook: Weird that the right-wing has only recently decided the Afghan war is a terrible idea, especially now that troops are being withdrawn. For eight years it was about keeping America safe and hunting our enemies no matter WHERE they fled, but only in the last three years do I see demand to bring our boys home.

Actually, even during the Bush(II) administration, there were conservatives who didn't want us wasting troops in Afghanistan when they could be sent to Iraq instead.

2012-07-29 08:37:37 PM

TheLalagah: As commander in chief of the military, all he has to do is bring everyone home.

Unfortunately, no. Ever played the game "Jenga"? It involves taking rods out of a stack until it falls, with the person having the most rods as the winner. Bush farked things up so badly in the middle east with regards to Afghanistan he's created a world-spanning game of Jenga. Removing our people from where they are now without any thought as to "what happens next" would be as short-sighted and stupid as removing all the rods from the bottom layer of the Jenga pile first and expecting it to continue to stand upright..

As much as I and most others would like to see all this end, the president cannot just "bring everyone home" without serious consequences. "What happens next" is a real thing.

Your extremely simplistic and naive view of the world needs some work.

there is no plausible reason for Obama, who has ordered, personally ordered by his own admission the deaths of Osama Bin Laden and several Somali pirates, there is not any reason for this killer to have won the Nobel Peace Prize.

Giving a killer and warmonger the nobel peace prize completely devalues the concept of having a peace prize.

Liberals are hypocrites.

So when Bush waged war, that was alright. But when Obama wages war (continuing the same policies started by Bush), that makes him comparable to a mass shooter.

Gotcha.

I don't know much about these people in Idaho, but TFA says they're libertarians. In which case they wouldn't have supported Bush or Obama's foreign policies. That's one of the problems with America, if someone criticizes a member of "your team," you tune them out because they must be from "the other team." That mentality creates groupthink and ruins political discourse.

So now its immature to point out the flaming hypocrisy of liberals?

I'm just saying that if you have $90,000 in cash in your fridge then maybe you shouldn't be bringing other congressman up on charges for borrowing a really nice armchair.

A: The Peace Prize has been symbolic at best for quite some time now.
B: Peace != strict pacifism. Eliminating al-Qaeda and helping with the Somali pirate problem will, in the long run, lead to a more peaceful world.

In some lucky cases, you can dig up what people like this were saying about Osama bin Laden back in September, 2001--usually that we had the right to hunt him down no matter what country he might be hiding in.
