The richest working woman in the UK should be able to do whatever she wants. Her books got so many kids (and a few adults) reading it was glorious. I have seen lines outside of nightclubs and movies late at night, but the first time I ever saw children (and parents) queueing up outside a bookstore for a midnight release was for Harry Potter books. It is possible to make a living with an English degree and have to ask people if they want fries with that.

I, too, also want to have lots of hot sweaty sex with J.K. Rowling.

Or, as her backyard is also known, "Scotland".

Every once in awhile, a notorious financial windfall goes to someone who is completely prepared to use that money in the most awesome way possible. This is one of those times.

(I should mention, "windfall" is just an expression--she, of course, earned the money.)

I wonder if JK Rowling is in the market for adoption.

You type that like your wife reads everything you type... and you two don't have a would-do list...

By writing a book that was more like breaking wind.

Umm, no. A tree house by its very definition, is a house in a tree. Not a (i admit very cool) club house on stilts.

That's a "stilt-house"

Is she having it built in the Whomping Willow?

The construction will cost in the neighborhood of £150,000.

So what's that to her? The equivalent of adding chips and a drink at subway to one of us normal people? The 13 cents under the couch cushions?

Must be nice to enough money to literally do the Scrooge McDuck thing in hundred dollar bills pound notes.

I love that Rowling got kids reading. I only wish they read something else between Harry Potter as children and Twilight at tweens.
