you can't put 'queen' and 'drag' right next to each other in the headline and not expect me to misinterpret the article.

Yeah...

Good luck with that.

Marcus Aurelius: Is it required that cops with a search warrant act like filthy animals, or is it optional?

I think that's in Amendment 4a.

In 1994 Boston police transposed some numbers in a drug raid and killed a 75 year old retired minister. The death resulted in what was at the time the largest wrongful death payment in city history. The record has since been broken. (Search keywords: Accelyne Williams.)

Also a few years back didn't the Baltimore police do the same and kick down the door of an elderly woman, who thought somebody was robbing her and shot at them which started a gun fight that left her wounded?

Only if you consider one of the best episodes of an extremely well known TV show obscure...

(Not to mention that the movie by itself is widely recognized as being one of the worst ever made.)

It's a job requirement for all departments in the country. It's right under tazing unarmed civilians who do a poor job of boot-licking.

FTFA comments section:

Holy Crap....All of you A-holes complain about violation of rights and police harassment. These dudes were doing their job to take a criminal off the streets & made an obvious mistake in their operation which turned out to be incredibly embarrassing. They apologized, tried to make light of a bad situation & moved on. But I'm sure none you have ever made an embarrassing mistake in your life.
These men put their lives on the line every day to ensure your protection & you have the stones to chastise them on a single mistake. What's next? Are you going to join the Westboro church to protest the funeral of an officer gunned down by a criminal while serving a warrant to get a dangerous man off the street?
It makes me ashamed to have served this country while douchebags like this get national attention & will likely win a frivolous lawsuit and take money away from these units that are already beyond budget & short on safety equipment that keeps them safe.
Thanks to the beauty queen who will surely enjoy her millions of dollars and likely preventing the department's ability to purchase necessary equipment to protect their officers. #whitewhine

Pretty sure that was either Atlanta police or Dekalb county. Or maybe it happened twice.

I think our old lady scored two hits on the cops.

Well those boys needed a little paid time off before their promotions.
Phili cops blew up a house and killed 11 people including 5 kids and burned 65 houses according to Wikipedia. Nobody was even reprimanded if I remember right.

FTFA: Manos and her fiancee, Eric Otto Ryder, say deputies had a search warrant for apartment "C" but entered their unit -- clearly marked as apartment "A."

What the officers might have been thinking:

Officer
Calenche Ranae Manos. 1320 SE Benning,
apartment A. A small, cramped
basement apartment.

Calenche
How'd you know?

Officer
They give basement apartments letters

If a civilian accidentally kills a Police dog, it's charged as capital murder and he gets the needle.

If a civilian accidentally kills their own dog, it's charged as cruelty to animals and he gets a few years in prison.

If an Officer negligently kills two Police dogs, it's a tragic accident and he gets promoted.

Two things bother me about this story:

1. Cops had to be the product of the publlic school system to not know the difference between A and C

2. Former beauty queen has a shiatty agent (or no agent) bcs she lives in an apartment with a Letter on the door.

That amazed me. The second you even begin to suspect there's a faint possibility that you may have perhaps done something that could conceivably be seen by some people as wrong, step one is to wire your word hole shut.

You really have a hard time believing that there are cops that can barely read or who don't bother to double-check the warrant? Have you MET cops?

What color is the sky on your planet?

I've never heard of anyone being executed for killing a police dog....OR doing prison time for ACCIDENTALLY killing their own dog.

(accidents are not criminally culpable, or were you thinking Michael Vick accidentally fought those dogs?)

I do know that most places, assaulting/killing a police dog is the same legally as assaulting/killing a human officer, which is fine with me, but has that ever actually happened anywhere in the history of ever?

shiat, I worked with a guy who was an ex-cop, and he "used to teach at the police academy." (Said with the proper gravity and tone of voice.) He also said that some of the recruits were dumb as rocks, and if HE was in charge, they'd never graduate.

You gotta understand that this is one of the dumbest guys I've ever met, besides having some serious mental issues. And he was a cop for over 15 years.

Things I've learned about multi-unit apartments and cops is that cops don't understand, unless it's a highrise, that the people in different apartments often have nothing to do with each other. In some cases, such as houses converted to multi-family apartments, they don't even understand what the number or letter after the street address means. And when multiple buildings all have the same street address? Totally lost.
Any time I lived in an "Apt. 1", I had cops knocking on my door looking for the people in another place. Nothing to kick my door down over, and I consider myself lucky in that, but in one case the cops were insisting that some woman I had never even heard of had lived in my apartment for the last 2 years. I told them that since I'd been living there for the past 3 years, they needed to knock on more doors.
