(Deadspin)   NBC's lowest-common-denominator marketing vermin figured you wanted to see Ryan Seacrest fluff-interviewing Michael Phelps instead of this most moving part of the opening ceremonies   (deadspin.com ) divider line

BarkingUnicorn: So the Brits put on an extravaganza for their own terrorism victims, but knuckled under to Arab pressure not to have a minute of silence for the 1972 Munich victims. That is chickenshiat.

There's a major event in September about Munich (at the actual anniversary).

The 7/7 bombings happened 12 hours after London won the Olympics. They two are deeply entwined in the British mind.

A tribute to victims of terrorism? Oh, f*ck off. They should have had a tribute to victims of the American "health care" system since they paid tribute to NHS.

Perhaps the reason NBC didn't show this segment is because it was inanely boring

I thought the deaf kids signing "God Save the Queen" to the queen was pretty neat. Otherwise, the opening ceremony was a mess.

And allow some other nation to cut into American Exceptionalism at victimology?

Meredith Vierra did say money shot after the finale so there was that.

It couldn't keep my interest. It was all over the place, and it looked like they tried to top Beijing with the "interpretive dance" crap. Not to mention the absurd and creepy puppets over hospital beds thing. Christ....

Why does this shock anyone? Beyond the borders of the United States the world doesn't exist

They were trying to top Beijing with a 6 minute interpretive dance of a dozen people in memory to the victims of 7/7?

Right.

Mrtraveler01: Just sick of people biatching that Israel wasn't the center of attention. They had a ceremony at the Olympic Village earlier in the week for them.

Wow a private non televised memorial... asking for one during ANY olympics since then means you want to be the center of attention? Man your hatred of Jews knows no bounds, does it?

There's a major event planned for the actual anniversary in September, you realise?

I'm not sure if it would matter if it did appear, given NBC would have cut it for a Subway commercial anyway.

Yeah but it's not televised which makes it iInsignifcant or something.

It's just comments like his that set me off. Just because I don't support everything Israel does 100% obviously means I hate Jews (that's sarcasm for the slow Farkers out there)

I understand the initial request about it, but the biatchfit they had after the IOC rejected the idea just seemed tacky and classless IMHO.

Directv execs- my remote control has extra buttons on it that are basically color buttons. Make one of them a mute button for commentators. It would work with sports and similar programming. It would be a great selling point.

NBC is under the assumption that every single American is a complete and total idiot. While not far from the truth, it means the rest of us suffer.

I love the goddamn BBC SO MUCH right now.

NBC doesn't want me to watch it through them, fine. I have broadcast TV, I have internet, but I have to pay for cable now too to watch anything on my computer? Eff you.

Your comment about "center of attention" just because people wondered why there was no memorial

lol @ people who wanted to watch a parade on TV complaining about how dumb other people are.
