GreatGlavinsGhost: Was that the first Olympic Fart?

Hardly. I've cut more than my fair share of Olympic-sized farts. In fact, I cut one this morning that resulted in my underwear winning some bronze of its own.

I almost fell out of my chair when the camera panned up from the keyboard. Show stealer for sure.

People are actually watching the Olympics? Haven't they learned not to delay the showing of games just so they fit into an evening time slot? Not live? I don't watch it.

The third best part of the Opening Ceremony.

1.) 7/7 tribute

2.) Mr. Bond and Mrs. Montbatten.

Well for stuff that Americans *actually* saw, it's second; a bunch of chicks in Freddie's leotards with his mic setup was third for me.

A blue box showing up would have been nice.

whatwhatWHAT? Americans can't do that. We have to watch primetime NBC coverage, since we're beholden to network TV. Plus the "internet" is locked here. The Canadians are like 4 hours ahead, though, so they get to see everything live after the daily showing of the 1994 World Juniors.

Hey, thanks, subby. SO got a much needed laugh out of that. And the second viewing for me was still awesome.

*Other than* the fact that there should have been a three wheel car behind him during the race. That would have made it perfect. Probably too much of an in-joke, though.

/thanks, PBS, for the Mr Bean episodes growing up

Or are they saving him for the closing ceremonies

Note: it was my understanding for the past 20 years that the song was about the Olympics. A quick GIS suggests otherwise.

It's about a TV program called "Jeux sans Frontiers", aka "It's a knockout" in the UK.

The 7/7/Abide With Me segment was my favourite bit along with the cauldron lighting and the forging of the rings.

If you didn't see the first of those, I recommend hunting it down.

Yeah, I looked it up, too. On Google WEB Search. What I asked is how 'GIS' -- Google IMAGE Search -- cleared that up. Because when I looked, all I saw was lots of melty pictures of Peter Gabriel.

Boyle worked the TARDIS engine noise in during the 1970s era music montage; during the trail out of
BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY, actually, if I'm not mistaken.

That was shout out enough for me.

/Monumentally pissed at NBC for cutting to the commercial when the Sex Pistols' "PRETTY VACANT"
came up.
