As long as the kids don't get screwed (don't go there) since they are all at an age to outgrow the show and probably have no leg to stand on.

Oh HELL yeah.

Met her back in her 'ED' days, remember? She sat on my lap for photos (her idea). I didn't think it was possible for her to be more adorable than she was on TV...... but she was even more so in person. The woman is amazingly gorgeous, and impossibly nice.

Thanks Julie.

Phil: I think the carpet matches the drapes, I haven't checked in a while.

When I heard they were holding out to get more money, I thought they were looking for Seinfeld/Friends level of money. Under $200k an episode for what must be one of their most popular shows? I know the cast is big, but just give them the money. (Not that they were starving at $65k an episode, but still. That show has to be making good money.

Ive never seen a minute of this show.

Is it actually good, or just network sitcom good?

I only saw the first season, but it was pretty entertaining. It does that fake-documentary thing from The Office where cuts of the characters talking directly to the camera will be interspersed with the actual plot. Whether that's a selling point or not is up to your individual tastes. What I liked about it is that the humor is derived from the characters' personalities and the ways they interact, not from "wacky" contrived set-ups. It also had a decent amount of running gags which reward repeat viewers, like the broken stair that someone trips over every time they go upstairs.

Ah, so very true, that show is on par with Two and Half Men, meaning it blows goats.

Modern Family is one of the best shows on tv, in fact the only thing I watch on ABC that isn't a Saints football game. However, I can't say I feel their pain for making only $65,000 per episode previously.

I do hate Manny, though. I've never liked that world-weary 8yr old going on 40 archetype. The kid actor is good, he's just good at playing a character I hate.

A little bit of both I think. It remind me a bit of a James Cameron movie. It's not too risky, it is cliched, but what it does, it does well. For whatever reason, both this show and Cameron's movies end up winning many awards they shouldn't but whatever.

IMO, I would rank it above Big Bang, but fair bit below Community, Archer and P&R.

Yeah! Stop whoring out your 21-yr old f*cking daughters! They're old enough to prostitute themselves, what with their makeup and dirty, dirty smiles.

Good for all of them. The one thing that made me like this show the most is that there's no main or even breakout characters, it's a pretty good ensemble performance. Which is quite remarkable, considering the size of the cast.

Just checked out their ratings on Wiki. They're quite impressive and are improving. The new salaries seem a bit low, if anything. They're making less than the (until recently) kid on Two and a Half Men, whose ratings are no longer higher than Modern Family's.

You also have to remember that the ratings Of Modern Family can carryover to the rest of the evening for ABC so it also increases the value of other shows as well. But how much are they paying the kids? Isn't it about time that they think of the children?

it's pretty good. It's not really as great as some of the more positive reviews, mostly because of:

Crudbucket: I do hate Manny, though. I've never liked that world-weary 8yr old going on 40 archetype. The kid actor is good, he's just good at playing a character I hate.

this. Though I don't think the actor is all that great. Truth be told, outside of Haley, I generally can't stand any of the child characters.

it's not a great show, but it's amusing enough to keep watching.

I didn't see season 3, but the smart kid was kinda funny as I remember. Dead on with Manny though.

No love for Ed O'Neill? This is easily the best role he has ever played. More Dutch than Bundy, and his style fits perfectly with the other eccentricities of the family.

The wife and I were recently looking for a new show to watch. We decided to buy the 1st season of Family. Awesome show. Maybe its because of the Office type of filming or the non-laughtrack style comedy but I'm glad it's not going away soon.

Despite the irrelevant mockumentary gimmick and the only things really "modern" about the family are a couple of crudely broad gay stereotypes and a white guy married to a Latina (which is about as safe an interracial relationship as you can get), Modern Family is a funny show with a good cast and solid writing.

It certainly blows away the Cerberus of sitcom shiat that is Big Bang Theory/Two and a Half Men/How I Met Your Mother.

Hey now, while I admit HIMYM needs to go ahead and meet the damn mother (I like one Farker's theory that the mother is Barney's half sister) it's been pretty solid for how long it has dragged out one little idea.
