In this case, saying Dane Cook was better than Daniel Tosh is just a backhanded compliment all the way through.

/wouldn't it be funny if Dane Cook got shot by five Sideshow Bobs right now?
//no
///no it would not be funny

2012-07-27 03:33:11 PM
Yea I'm pretty sure the more controversial comment was saying the Dark Knight Rises was a "piece of crap".

/Terrible joke
//And not because of the timing, it's just a bad joke

2012-07-27 03:40:56 PM
I don't hate Dane Cook for making Aurora jokes. Hell, I respect him for it.

I hate Dane Cook for being an unfunny hack.

2012-07-27 03:41:55 PM
Joking about Aurora? What's his Fark handle?

2012-07-27 03:49:13 PM
You people have no respect for cutting-edge humor. Clearly he's too avant-guarde for your pedestrian tastes.

Triumph: Joking about Aurora? What's his Fark handle?

That was my thought. Are we really going to get on him for something that I'm sure has happened plenty on this very site?

/I'm meh on Dane Cook. Don't particularly like him, don't particularly hate him

If it weren't for Fark threads, I wouldn't even recognize this guy's name.

I'd bet most comments will be about how it was a terrible joke. Not tasteless terrible, just really bad.

I'm more shocked he didn't steal someone else's "I feel bad for them. I got to see the whole movie, they only saw clips" joke that's been goin around.

2012-07-27 03:57:06 PM
From what I've seen that's actually one of his funnier jokes.

2012-07-27 04:18:19 PM
I would have laughed out loud. Because Dane Cook calling anything but his own career a piece of crap is pretty funny.

IMHO, he used to be funny, but that was back in 2002/2003.

I liked him back then, but I was in high school at the time so maybe it needs to be taken with a grain of salt. If I hear the old stuff it's nice nostalgia-wise. As time went by I got more indifferent towards his stuff, and I haven't seen anything he's done remotely recently aside from that scene in Louie.

Come on Dane stick to your comfort zone: imitating girls talking, nicknaming things, yelling and flailing your limbs

2012-07-27 04:48:57 PM
Yeah....that wasn't a funny joke because it was just....lame....

2012-07-27 04:50:34 PM
I think the real villain here is the comedian who told that joke before Dane stole it.

2012-07-27 04:52:06 PM
It's a movie about a man who fights crime while dressed as a bat. How could it be good?

I also liked him in high school back when I smoked pot. The pot might have influenced his funniness.

And you know what? That's fine, leave social commentary and satire on important political stuff to guys like Jon Stewart. Just listened to the joke but it kind of sounds like he was trying out new material on a small crowd.

My favorite George Carlin joke is about rape. But I'm pretty sure he had to practice the delivery and wording quite a few times before it was a staple of his act.

Oddly enough for Dane Cook if he were to exagerate a bit more, be more vocal etc it could work.

Hey, just like the Sideshow Bob thing. Wait, no, that's lame, insulting, offensive, stupid, and trivializing

Why is Dane Cook in the Entertainment tab? Mods are trolling more and more every month.

It has nothing to do with Dane Cook, that's a big plus right there.

2012-07-27 05:06:25 PM
Appearing at the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles, Cook prefaced the remarks by saying "here we go."

He should have stopped there. "Here we go" in of itself is probably funnier than 95% of anything he ever says.

2012-07-27 05:06:52 PM
To be fair, he isn't stealing Aurora jokes from other comedians.

2012-07-27 05:08:56 PM
I dislike Dane Cook more than I do just about every other comedian, but like that stupid joke from that playmate, this is nothing to get into an internet rage over. People are so damn sensitive and politically correct these days, and all the butthurt people using twitter and blogs to express it is just making things worse, not better. I don't want to live in the sterile world these people are trying to make with their butthurt.

Dane cook still sucks.

Yup anything can be funny, it just depends who the comedian is.

Daniel Tosh probably doesn't make a funny rape joke, but George Carlin sure. I never thought the holocaust would be a good topic for funny jokes and then I saw Eddie Izzard, hilarious.

2012-07-27 05:11:47 PM
I bet right after hearing that joke the audience was thinking "Ugh, some just farking shoot us".

What do the audience and the plot for Dark Knight Rises have in common?

They're both full of holes.

Adam Ferrara, only it was about Lincoln's wife dragging him to the theatre.

"Humor is tragedy plus time" is a quote attributed to Mark Twain.

Cook was just testing the inner boundary of the concept.

/insert 9-11 joke here
//Cook sucks donkey cock

Resurrect his career??

Unfortunately, its still going far stronger than it should be.

A friend of mine back in college gave me a Dane Cook stand-up special on DVD. She was going on and on about how HILARIOUS this guy is and how AWESOME and how I HAVE to watch it. So on a Friday night, I popped it in, and... He's flailing his arms around a lot, jumping/walking around the stage in a purportedly comical fashion, and TALKING REALLY LOUD... Okay, so far so good... So he's talking about topics and relatable things that could potentially be funny... BUT WHERE'S THE PUNCH LINE?? WHERE'S TEH FUNNY??

So I gave the DVD back and haven't really talked to her much since.

I guess the best way to describe Dane Cook is, he's like the "Hangover II" of comedians, or the Seth Rogan of actors. He LOOKS like he's supposed to be funny, but in substance, he really isn't.

Dane Cook is the sum total of Myspace. Dane Cook and Myspace are synonymous.

So Dane Cook went up for a part in TDKR and lost it to maybe Mathew Modine? Or the guy from Reno 911 who played the doctor so he's pissed?

I don't get it.

So much THIS.

I brought a Christopher Titus CD into work one day for us all to listen to instead of top 40 radio all day, and it was a huge hit. A girl decided she wanted to be a hero too, and the next day she brought in a Dane Cook CD saying "OMG he's so funny!" I think I politely laughed at one joke, but, like you said, there was no punchline. Just stupid nicknames he makes up for everything and LOUD TALKING. Which half the time you couldn't really hear over the several trillion idiot 14 year old girls screaming his name from wherever they recorded the show at.

Anyway, we put Titus back in.

2012-07-27 07:58:39 PM
If I had been in that theater, I'd have grabbed that guy and raped him.
