Well, I would hope so, since MovieTone news hasn't been in business for 50 30 years.

Color me surprised that it went all the way up to 1979 in the UK. Ended in 1963 in the U.S. though.

I'd occasionally watch if someone did some "Movietone News" styled news reporting on contemporary news stories as a YouTube channel... change all the footage to scratchy B/W, have the esteemed sounding announcer, etc. Would be kitchy.

Considering that this was the first Olympics held since the 1936 Berlin Olympics, this was quite a big thing.

Noticed that the U.S. seemed to have the largest contingent.

Considering that everyone in Europe and Asia was either dead, starving, or living in a bombed-out ruin, that's not surprising.

Little known fact, the Doctor has won a medal at 22 different summer/winter Olympic games if one only counts the Modern games. If you through in the originals, the numbers become difficult to keep track of.

Didn't see a thread for it, so I'll ask the dumb question: So was Fark embargoed from live-blogging the CURRENT Olympics? Not against a little history, but damn...

Still better than NBC's coverage.
