(Daily Mail)   Woman drops dead at counter of McDonald's ... while the staff continued taking orders. To be fair though, after 30 minutes without moving, everyone just assumed she was on the payroll   (dailymail.co.uk) divider line 75

Had a woman die in the bathroom at Books a Million years back, closed the bathroom and called an ambulance, and business went on as usual. You can't just stop being a business because someone dies, whether it's a bookstore or a a fast food joint. Otherwise that dead person costs tens of thousands of dollars worth of business if not more.

Loren: ArkAngel: So what? They closed the interior of the restaurant and only kept the drive-thru open. And what exactly else were the McDonald's employees supposed to do with the body?

Exactly. I see no wrongdoing here. It wasn't like they ignored the situation. They called for help, they didn't interfere with the help that responded, what more were they supposed to do??

Sit around with the heebie jeebies AND the willies.

Im surprised they even closed the store right away, usually youd have to go up the chain of command, in the case of mcdonalds probably the franchise owner. And as far as what to do after that... Employee sees customer drop dead, informs shift manager. Shift manager doesnt remember that part of the handbook, calls the general manager, general manager calls franchise owner, franchise owner calls corporate, corporate has to convene a quick meeting of the lawyers, have to call back the owner, who has to call the store who has to tell the employees not to touch the body.

McDonald's employees are dumb. Stop the presses. You mean to tell me that in a job tailor-made for slow-witted underachievers, the employees aren't tipping the mental skills? Knock me over with a feather.

Make big macs?

That's Taco Bell.

I'm pretty sure they don't serve big macs at taco bell.

(the dead person silly)

I don't think dead people serve any type of food...

Yep, you got filterpwnd.

From the FArQ:

"Boobies" time warp

For whatever reason message boards on sites like Fark are forever plagued with morons posting "Boobies" anytime a link is posted. Fark automatically turns the words "Boobies" into the word "boobies" and resets the timestamp on the message to some time in the future so that it isn't the Boobies anymore. Attempts to evade that sometimes result in it becoming "weeners" instead of "boobies".

Yeah, I realized that as soon as I saw my original post, which actually made it all the more funnier to me. But honest to god, I wasn't trying to use the term, "weeners," like someone thought I did. This is a good case of the fark filter making a post funnier, and I'm all for it.

What were they supposed to do instead?

One of the grocery stores I worked in during college had a lady drop dead on one of our baggers who went outside with her to her car. For the next month, most of the employees wouldn't let him touch their stuff and would call out, 'No, you'll kill me.' They let him go home early that day.

Have you ever worked a menial corporate job? Thats what its actually like, NO ONE has any decision making authority. When i worked at walmart i know only the store manager and assistant store manager were allowed to call emergency services, the handbook was very explicit about it, as in you could be fired for calling 911 in an emergency instead of informing the manager.

When i was working at office max, one weekday night we had one of the worst storms on record, half to roads in the city were flooded, we hadnt had a customer in 3 hours, the roads were getting worse city bus service had even stopped, and me and my employees werent sure if we were going to be able to get home, i of course didnt have the authority to send anyone home or close early, had to call district who had to ok with corporate to close early. Which of course didnt happen, since there werent any more transactions i did all the closing work ahead of time and we were able to leave about 5 minutes after closing time. Took me over 2 hours to get 10 miles home...Find out the next day not too long after we left part of the roof collapsed.
