This is the man Republicans are not only wanting to beat Obama, but run the nation for the next four years?

My God. You people are desperate, aren't you? Stacking the senate with Tea Party retards who would rather watch the country burn than reach a compromise with the Dems and Independants not enough?

I'm not convinced.

A part of me thinks Mittens is taking a spectacular dive paving the way for a Palin revolution at the convention.

Good thing national polls don't mean anything. Nate Silver has Obama with a huge EV lead, something like a 300 vote total.

I'm no fan of the Electoral College. But it really saddens me that he's still doing so well with the popular vote. If I were moderate Republicans, I'd demand a new candidate. He's terrible.

There's two types of moderate Republicans left in the actual GOP, those who are unaware that the GOP has become a party of irredeemable nutjobs and those who harbor a fantasy that somehow it can be fixed.

I'm the latter. Honestly, if Romney ran on his record in Mass, he wouldn't be that bad of a candidate. Instead though, he's all over the place, taking every side of every issue, distancing himself from his own record, and making gaffe after gaffe.

/Will likely vote for Obama, who's done a good job as a moderate Republican while in the White House. Now if only the Republican's in congress can grow up and do their damn job.

This would be a pretty interesting campaign slogan to run parallel to the main campaign thrust for Obama. He is pretty much a Rockefeller Republican. It'd be super entertaining to see him peel off moderate Republicans in notable numbers.

I would think it fabulous if someone from MI6 came forward and said they never met with Romney, have no idea what he's talking about, and would never meet with someone who was not a head of state and discuss any kind of policy matters with them.

Spoken like a true dizzbrain addicted to the lamestream media. Obama had 365 EVs against McCain. He will give back IN, NC, and Omaha, so he is at like 340 EVs. The only question is Florida, so 340 or 311. The horse race is for horses' twats.

I guess I've never really paid attention before but is this kind of thing normal for a Presidential candidate? I work with a bunch of right wingers and some of them today were kind of surprised that Romney is over in England doing "Head of State" type meetings at this time (their words, not mine)

Do a mental exercise. Imagine if in 2008, Barack Obama had been jetting around Europe meeting with MI6 and government opposition leaders, and insulting the British state. What would the right-wing Bush fellators have said? They'd have absolutely popped a goddamn gasket. They'd be yelling about treason and national security and OMG IT'S DISRESPECTFUL TO THE PRESIDENCY. But M. White Romney does it, and even the "librul media" simply tuts about gaffes. No, it's not even CLOSE to normal for a Presidential candidate.

That question has an obvious answer in the current scene though. That's probably why it's overlooked.
The MSM wants a horserace. In a "fair" situation Mitt's issues would have flushed him out of the running earlier on, but the stable was so weak this time round that he's what is presented to our 2 party system (now lets not talk about how the 2 party system is broken in principle).

So basically, to keep interest the the race, the MSM has doped the Romney Horse. They will create a false drama between the 2 candidates because that's what sells.
We discuss it, mostly because it's what we have. Realistically, you aren't going to get another candidate in either party nor, a strong 3 party created in the short time we have between now and November.

After that, well, Then we kind of forget all this nonsense. (except the losers, who are called upon to shed sweet tears for the next 4 years.)
Rinse/Repeat.

Yeah I've never heard of it, but it does seem like a good strategy though, getting endorsements from our allies. It lends more foreign policy cred than just being able to see Russia from your house.

Or you, know, maybe it's part of his plot to have the UN take us over and form a true one-world government. Obama hasn't been moving fast enough taking all our guns away, so the guys in charge over there are shopping around for other options.

tony41454: Why is this any different than Obama leaking classified info to make himself look good?

Because when Romney leaks classified info, he does it in such a way as to make himself look bad. (Possibly because he is, in fact, awful. Yet, amazingly, he was still better than most of the people he competed against for the Republican nomination.)

Yeah, pretty much that. It's different because Romney sucks balls at it and in general I'd recommend he just start pretending that other countries don't exist.

Obama did it in 2008 and it made him look pretty good. Romney is trying to do the same but is bad at it and is also skipping the hard places like Afghanistan and Iraq.
