If this guy wants to be all Muslimy, we should just cut his head off and call it the day.

Fug him. "Forcibly shaved." I like the sound of that.

Give him the Niki Lauda special haircut.

FTFA: Even though Hasan has been in custody since November 2009 when 13 people were shot and killed at the U.S. Army installation outside Killeen, Texas, he is still in the Army and still draws his pay.

Does anyone else think that's a little farked up? Why is he still drawing pay if he's been sitting in a cell for 3 goddamn years?

Not paying someone is racist.

Due process. You know he's guilty, I know he's guilty, everyone knows he's guilty. But we have a system in place for a reason - so that the innocent don't get railroaded. That means that sometimes the guilty are able to take advantage of it, intentionally or otherwise, in a way that's not pleasant. But it's a worthwhile price to protect people.

That's why the camps at Guantanamo are inherently bad. They strip out due process to the detriment of us all.

Shaving a Muslim's beard is sacrilege. It's like stealing a Mormon's magical underwear.

You just don't do it, man.

What normally happens if you're in the Army and don't shave? They should just do whatever that is until he shaves, or not and then continue on with the trial regardless of his shaved status.

That's a really good point. I mean, they're still PAYING him likes he's still in the Army, so just shave him like he's still in the army.

Too bad for him. This farkstick is still an officer in the army and will be forced to comply up until such time that they hang him or shove a stick of tnt up his ass and light the fuse.

I imagine a soldier who refuses to conform to grooming standards gets discharged from the service, UNLESS HE'S ON TRIAL FOR MURDER!

I'm a hippie liberal too, but I don't see the problem with it. If he doesn't want to shave, then fine. He doesn't need that three years' pay either. He did what he did while in the military, he still draws pay from the military, so he can follow regs as stipulated by the military.

You get your hair cut when you go in, he can get it going out just as easy.

Because he's still innocent until proven guilty? You remember, the basic principle upon which our society was founded?

He is just trying to get one last bit of sympathy from Muslim nuts that are on his side. He didn't have a beard before. Shave it per reg.

It's not that it's ignorance.
Everyone knows that shaving him will be humiliating and degrading and a religious insult and they want to do it anyway.
You see, people just don't give a shiat for such niceties when you're an officer in the US Army and you kill 13 of your (and our) soldiers, people who had lived for a total of 473 years.
He deserves no kindness.

Point taken but at this juncture in time, I don't think anyone really cares about his particular viewpoint.

I'd imagine if they "fired him" he'd get moved to a civilian court to. They probably prefer to retain him and just eat the cost.
