Esc7: Giltric: Esc7: Giltric: Yes, America...the melting pot. A country where once we get here we all split up into our little groups whether it be based on country of origin, religion, political party etc...... and remain loyal to our group first and foremost before our fellow" Americans".

I'd wager that most of the violence stems from one person wanting what another person has....kids shoot/stab/set fire to eachother for sneakers...because they believe they are entitled to someone elses belongings.....

If you noticed the first question I asked, which is even quoted in your response....I wonder if ther eis a difference in regards to violence in nations with homogenous people and countries where people come from all different tribes so to speak.

I seriously don't understand, you know what this thread is about right? Your original comment is implicitly about the Colorado massacre or you're just babbling about how one "tribe" kills another for
"sneakers."

What tribe was James Holmes being loyal to? According to your hypothesis about intercine tribal conflict in America, what tribes were fighting each other in that theater? Or are you just some thread shiatting troll that's slipped through my ignore filter?

OWS

Thank you. Really. I mean it.

He was Black Bloc...which is like OWS special forces.

Probably felt those people in the theater were responsible for his student loans....the money from which he spent on firearms and assault gear....the kind of fiscal irrespnsibility that usually puts people in debt.

Cato: please: You're never going to stop the 1 in 100 million psycho. The guy in Aurora was already building bombs, you think he wouldn't have gone into the theater with a bunch of bombs if he didn't have a gun?

Also, anyone who thinks guns are regulated in this country apparently knows little about guns - they are regulated up the wazoo.

How many children drown in swimming pools each year? How many children are killed by drunk drivers each year? This is a nation of 300 MILLION + people - statistically, shiat happens.

Exactly. We don't live in Utopia because Utopia is impossible. This is the real world. shiat happens and will always happen and there is no stopping it.

I read somewhere that, at about the same time this douche was shooting up the movies, some chick, through negligance, lost control of her car on an interstate in Colorado and ended up causing an accident that killed more people than the shooting. So, Sideshow Bob didn't even cause the biggest tragedy in that state on that day. Yet people aren't running around demanding that only police be able to have cars - an argument that would make a LOT more sense than gun control. More people die from automobiles than anything else in the US - guns are way, way down the list. But guns are scary and so people who are prone to pure emotional reactions instead of using any reason whatsoever crawl out of the woodwork demanding they be banned.

Life isn't perfect. shiat happens. And if you really, really are actually wanting to stop the loss of life and "protect the children" start with something that would make an actual major difference, like cars. When you start and end with guns it shows a real lack of critical thinking.

Things that cause injury/ kill more people per year than guns:

-Heart attacks/ Heart disease
-Diabetes/ complications from diabetes
-Complications from HIV/AIDS
-Workplace accidents

Sounds like we need to start banning McDonalds, Coca-Cola, sex, and hazardous jobs.

What? Black Bloc is just a group of assholes dedicated to starting violent confrontation. They aren't any closer to OWS special forces than they are to Tea Party or My Little Pony special forces.

Does shooting up a movie theater fall into "dedicated to starting violent confrontations"?

HotWingConspiracy: medic2731: HotWingConspiracy: randomjsa: So basically he thinks police should go on strike in order to force the public to comply with demands.

That's nothing new, every police union in the nation uses the threat of strike during contract negotiations.

Negative. Strikes by Public Safety employees, namely, police, fire, and EMS are patently illegal and in doing so, they would immediately forfeit their lucrative (in the PD and FD, not nearly so in EMS) jobs without recourse.

Yeah that's why they don't call it a strike and all come down with the flu.

Has this happened in the past decade? What do they do in two weeks when out of sick days?

Class, watch closely. The troll has many methods. For instance here look at how he subtly derails the conversation from his own racist trolling into how Black Bloc is part of OWS. Notice how he has no proof linking the Colorado shooting to Black Bloc, and also how he ignores that Black Bloc is a TACTIC. A protesting TACTIC of a mass of people wearing black clothing in order to appear homogenous and hard for the police to target.

Instead of arguing his idiocy of James Holmes being motivated by OWS, you're instead arguing about OWS ties to Black Bloc tactics.

I didn't think this was a very good effort, but you did get some bites.

Fark you! I'm a liberal socialist and you will not take guns away from me. Oh you could come to my house and confiscate my legally purchased fire arms, but the only thing that will do is drive me to the black market.

Where instead of legally owning a .22 Rifle, .22 Pistol, 12 & 20 gauge pump action shotguns, a .300 rifle, a .45 ACP handgun, a .45 Colt handgun, and a .38 I'd illegally own an Siag-12 shot gun with 30 round drum, .45 and 9mm hand guns, a M-4, and a P-90.

Yeah I know where to go to purchase all those, but don't because they are mostly illegal.

Bloomburg is an ass.

They knew we had a Constitution when they applied for the job.
If you don't like it, QUIT. (And leave the country too.)

Fire them all if they strike.

What are you taking about? I own all those plus the ones you listed as your own, all legally. Sure, the M4 and P90 are semi-auto knock-offs, but do your paperwork and you can own full-auto legally as well.
Hell, in Michigan we just legalized suppressors. All you need in the Sherriff's sig, pay your $200 to the ATF, and wait 6 months for the paperwork to go through.

If there's one thing these mass shootings reveal, it's mass public ignorance on gun laws. People constantly ask me if my toys are legal, and are surprised when I say yes. Sorry, but your ignorance has no effect on my rights.

The gross idiocy on the difference between an assault rifle and an assault weapon (or even what 'assault weapon' means) is pretty inexcusable by anyone who wants to have an opinion on firearms.

I love NYC

Some piece of shiat like Don Imus, who is an admitted alcoholic and former drug abuser (mountains of cocaine) can get a concealed carry permit, yet good luck getting one of you're a truck driver, cabbie, ect.

When the rules are applied fairly to all citizens, then I will start to listen to some pos with a napoleon complex like bloomberg.

Indeed. Nothing says superior intelligence like referring to weapons designed for people-killing as 'toys'.

Most of the cops I know are hardcore believers in the right to own guns. I have a buddy who is an FBI agent and keeps a gun in his fridge because he is under the impression that most home invaders request food from the home-owners.

God Is My Co-Pirate: Shut up Piers Morgan, you cock.

His ratings suck, so I wouldn't worry about him for much longer. Heard Larry King is actually getting another show....online maybe?

Karac: quatchi: I'm more interested in closing hte gun show loophole, making sure mentally ill people don't have legal access to guns and maybe thinking about better ways of tracking of ammo purchases. Limiting amounts of ammo is worthy of discussion as well.

If not closing the gun show loophole entirely, just tighten it up a bit. If you're some private citizen and you go to a show to sell or trade a couple of firearms that's one thing; you shouldn't be required to get the ability to do background checks. But if you're setting up a table with 20 handguns on it, you ain't just selling your personal collection, you're running a business - and you should be held to the same standards as any other professional gun dealer.

Like this guy? Link

If you set up a booth with 20 handguns at a gun show and you're not a licensed dealer, the ATF would be very interested in talking to you. That's why astounded me about WR and F&F. People would come in and purchase 10 of the same gun month after month, and the prosecutors didn't even give them the greenlight to investigate them.

I just want what I see overseas. A country where massacres like this don't happen as often as they do.

Have you considered that this might not have anything at all to do with access to various types of weapons?

If you ask 'Why do serial killings happen?' or even take one step further back, 'Why would someone want to murder multiple people?' the answer is never "Because they had guns."

It is so easy to act like some outraged, compassionate, forward thinking liberal...er....conservative...er....independent...er....LiberCo nserIndepativePerson, after...
- you are driven to the latest of your little on-air diatribes
- in you very posh vehicle,
- that waits to take you to your elegant townhouse
- just before heading out to the airport to your Lear jet
- that will take you to Bermuda
- so you can hob and knob and chuckle about life
- with people who pay good money to keep their names out of the papers.

Bloomy, take your pills like the good doctor told you to. Skipping a day is not advised. Otherwise, you act weird and start with the I-Gots-All-Da-Answers stuff. The rest of the country is doing just fine without you. Go ahead and push around your 8 million political captives with your little army. While you are doing that, the other 302 million in the country have a few ideas of how things work best in our communities and will act accordingly.

We don't need another rich guy with a strategically furled bow reciting some faux concern for our welfare. We got enough of them in Washington and on the campaign trail. Give it a rest.

bdub77: "Police officers want to go home to their families. And we're doing everything we can to make their job more difficult, but more importantly, more dangerous, by leaving guns in the hands of people who shouldn't have them and letting people who have those guns buy things like armor-piercing bullets," he detailed. "The only reason to have an armor-piercing bullet is to go through a bullet-resistant vest. The only people that wear bullet-resistant vests are our police officers."

Yeah, because that guy who just killed a whole bunch of people in a theatre last week totally wasn't wearing bullet resistant armor.

*total facepalm*

I'm sorry if I disagree with the guy who has turned NYC into a police state.

He wasn't wearing bullet resistant armor. It was cheap crap designed to look like the real thing, but provided no protection.

I hope nobody invades my home then. I mean, giving them ketsup would probably be in poor taste.

How ebarrassing - A house full of condiments and no food.

/Not even close to obscure.
