Exactly. Chick-fil-A management forgot they weren't in the talk-radio business.

They made their fame serving mediocre buttered chicken to fat racists, I say stick with what brought you to the party.

But now they are being promoted by the talk-radio business.

I used to stop in there once in a while for a salad while out and about, but I see Wendy's is pushing some sort of salads these days. Maybe I'll stop in somewhere they aren't being voiced by assholes.

They were going to make a double sandwich, but two breasts against each other is just wrong.

I love their original chicken sandwiches, but I haven't eaten there in over a year, since a lot of the news came out about their donations.

When their CEO flat out said where they stood, I decided to double down as well, and refuse to eat there at all even with friends wanting it.

Anytime anyone suggests it now, I say exactly why and after becoming aware of what is going on, they join in in refusing to go there too. I just hope they spread the word to their friends too.

The funniest part was the PR person (or whoever it was) getting outed on FB.

If there were only some type of rule about lying in their little book.

They call their dessert "Iced Frozen Dairy Substance", because frankly "cream" sounds kinda gay.

The original name was going to be "Whipped Dairy Air" but was dropped in focus groups for now obvious reasons.

Chick-Fil-A can keep talking. I'm not going there anymore.

FTFA: You've probably heard of the ruckus by now, but in case you haven't: fast food chain Chick-Fil-A has been in the news recently because their owner came out as pro- "traditional marriage" or, as the media have spun it, anti-gay rights.

Doesn't take much effort to see where Woot stands on gay rights.

2012-07-26 09:38:16 AM
I said this yesterday. The head of Chick-a-Fil should have just went the "My name is Bennent and I ain't in it" route.

Fortunately you're not missing much.

It reminds me of when Sonic finally came to the twin cities. There was a group of people in my circle claiming it was the best thing they ever had. When i finally tried it I found out they had incredibly generic tastes. It was just like any other fast food chain.

Same with Chick-Fil-A. It's a pretty bog standard fried chicken sandwich.

And I'm no fast food hater. I eat that sort of stuff probably more than I should. But don't hand me a pile of gristle and say I'm wrong for not calling it a t-bone.

SlothB77: sub-mediocre? how about delicious?

We live in an age where people just can't honestly evaluate things. Anyone who we don't like is bad at all things. Actors who say things we dislike can't act. Comedians who are politically "misaligned" aren't funny. Scholars who say stuff we dislike are dumb.

Its not everyone but enough to make it common.

Personally, Chick-Fil-A makes a very good sandwich. The restaurants are cleaner and better staffed than most other national chains.

The scandal over their beliefs is mostly manufactured. Their corporate donations have been known for a long time.

SlothB77: sub-mediocre? how about delicious?

No sh*t. Hey Woot, don't sacrifice whatever limited credibility you have by saying the f*cking sandwich isn't good. Compared to other fast food joints, it is easily the best. The rest of your advice is just fine, taking the extra step makes you look foolish.

For every one of you there are two or three mes who don't really care either way and would never normally think to go there but now will go just to see what the fuss is all about. I already went last time this chicken place I had previous ignored came up in the news. I think I've been there three times now. It's a pretty good place and their clientele is a fair bit less scuzzy than your average fast food joint. That's an understatement - the one I've been to was full of MILFs each time.

You don't get to run a business the size of Chick-Fil-A without having some business acumen, certainly.

You do if you're the son of the founder. This is why I don't worry too much about estate taxes even though I'm not opposed to them. Everything is finally pissed away by the 3rd generation. Just think, the kid of this guy will be saying even dumber things when he's running the joint. They'll probably come out with the Jesus Jerk Chicken and then when sales slide they'll roll out a burger.

Look at Ford or Motorola. They kept sticking the scions in charge and things got worse and worse. At least Ford finally figured it out in time. Moto waited way too long.

Yeah, I'll give them best chicken sandwich in fast food. It's a combination of peanut oil and MSG that makes is good. If their competitors hammered them on the MSG thing then they could probably steal market share from the headcases that think they're allergic to it.

Now for regular fried chicken, Popeye's spicy is the shiat and don't tell me otherwise.

They should send Chick-Fil-A corporate a special Bag O'Crap, just for them. Only this time, the BOC takes the form of a pallet of equality bumper stickers.

Cozret: Doesn't take much effort to see where Woot stands on gay rights.

Actually, it takes a lot of effort to make the jump required for that conclusion. Some people think its silly the way groups fight over terminology like it makes any practical difference. I have no idea what the Woot! guy thinks, but I tend to think it's absurd that so much energy is expended over whether or not you get labeled with one thing that means the same thing as the other.

The Chick-Fil-A douchebags say they're in favor of traditional marriage, their detractors try to label them as against a group's rights. Meanwhile, it doesn't make any farking difference what label you use to the hundreds of thousands of people who are denied basic rights every day because meddling religious jagoffs insist on trying to be superior to other people based on completely harmless differences.

Haven't had Chick-fila in over a year (unless someone else bought it and I didn't have much of a choice, but I felt really bad while I was eating it)

On the other hand, I have spent a tiny fortune with Woot, and will continue to do so...

Not hugely impressed with sonic. Slightly above average fast food burgers, below average fries. Hate fast food in general though.

BUT. One chain I did find to be a bit better then normal was Checkers.

I've only been to Chick-Fil-A 2 or 3 times...there wasn't one in my hometown, and there has never been one close to any of the apartments I've lived in. The times I have visited, though, I couldn't help but notice that the workers there are...odd. (Do they send buses to recruit from the youth groups of local churches?) Plus, the one closest to my house is swarmed by a consistent crowd of white soccer moms and church ladies, accompanied by their well-behaved and totaly-not-at-all spoiled children. It's not exactly my scene, and boycotting it is not a problem.

Hmm, look how Chick-Fil-A allow some to get their Christian hating prejudice going.
