Unlike many of the faithful, I do not believe that tax cuts are the one solution; the one viable answer to all of Americas' problems. I do, however, love, love, love the term taxmeggedon.

TAXMEGGEDON Coming soon to a theater near you; rated R for adult themes and obscene whining.

This doesn't add up.

There are 150m, roughly, workers in the US. Taxmageddon will go from 154 people to 27 million people.

The median income is $50k.

Yet he has examples of families of four making $50k and single women earning $36k.

Wha?

A temporary tax reduction expiring isn't a tax increase.

Tarkus: A temporary tax reduction expiring isn't a tax increase.

That depends entirely on who's defining it

/or rather, trying to shape it to their agenda

It's only temporariy if it's allowed to expire. And since no one is even suggesting they be made permanent I don't understand what they're thinking.

Since when is measuring something like this in total dollars useful?
%age of GDP is the proper measure and in that case it would not even be remotely close.

When required to spend money in ways that benefit other people, evil is let loose in the world. Evil, pure evil. The higher your income bracket, the more saintly and beloved of God you are. Obviously.

So you're basically trying to destroy our modern day saints. Latter...day saints...as it were.

What, are you - a Satanist Kenyan?

$2,195,097 to $5,729,000

But yeah, I'm sure he's just looking out for the little guy. Not his own payday.

2012-07-26 03:40:11 AM
Well, if Orrin Hatch is saying it - in an Op Ed no less - then it absolutely MUST be true. He'd never say anything like this for political purposes. It's not like he'd ever want to rile up a conservative base that is already at near-bed wetting levels of terror at the thought of another four years of Obama in office, would he?

The death tax will come roaring back -- hitting farmers, ranches and businesses.

Orinn Hatch is cordially invited to go fark himself with a baseball bat.

The estate tax needs to come back, taxes need to go up and the GOP needs to stop acting like retarded children on these and many other issues.

Maybe he should go give a massive cockpunch to the losers in his party who's intransigence led the nation here while he's at it.

2012-07-26 03:45:20 AM
What's Obama got to do with it? This is Congress's mess.

Okay, okay, that's a little obtuse, he'll be the guy to negotiate with. But the hell of it is, they could go ahead and put something, anything that would pass the Senate without talking to the Pres - and Obama would be in the position where he couldn't refuse to sign off on it. Unless it did something mind-crushingly stupid, like repeal the ACA.

2012-07-26 03:45:51 AM
Like the so-called debt-ceiling crisis of 2011, this is just more political posturing that will end up not mattering a whit.

You'll go on and vote for Obama or Romney, and things will keep chugging on like they'e been doing for years.

I don't know how I'm going to make ends meet when this taxtastrophe goes through. I earned nearly 1.3 billion dollars last year and paid nearly 11 percent of that money to the government. If you add even a tenth of a percent to my taxes, I'm ruined. "LOL A TENTH OF A PERCENT STOP BEING GREEDY", yeah, a tenth of a percent is nothing for poor slobs like you. But for job creators like me, that tenth of a percent can be the difference between a new factory in Vietnam and having to eat. Tiny Irregular Screws will go bankrupt if this tax hike goes through. And with it, the world's fourth-leading manufacturer of parabola screws will disappear from the face of this Earth. Culture, destroyed by taxation. I guess it's okay for liberals to destroy culture if it means a couple bucks on their welfare checks. Lol. What a joke.

Well according to the plan it's agree to nothing then blame Obama for the tax increase... Fark the Economy
Then win the elections...
Then Fark the economy with some more

Okay, so the Senate passes the bill to keep the tax cuts for the Middle Class, and Republicans are vowing to kill that in the House because it doesn't make bank for the wealthy... How is this Obama's fault? How is this Democrat's fault? If Orin doesn't want his "taxmaggedon" for the majority of Americans all he has to do is support the Senate bill. Then if he wants a serious discussion on why rich people need more money than they already have, he can stop hiding behind bullshiat and just step up and be a man about it and say what he actually means. Because the only people between the majority of Americans and this increase in tax rates are Republicans, and they are not on the side of most Americans.

Come on, you think they're going to accuse a group of white Republicans when there's a perfectly good black Democrat to point the finger at and howl about instead? Don't be silly.

/Of course, in my opinion, tax increases are necessary, not accusation-worthy.

So what does Single Mom With One Child get back on her refund every year?

Cuz back when I was actually employed, I filed as single person, head of household, ZERO kids, making about that, and I got a substantial refund every single year.

2012-07-26 03:57:09 AM
And of course, America's media will immediately pounce on this blatant lie and rip it, and the asshole it was pulled from, to shreds.

Yep, aaaany day now.

Or perhaps like Politifact, they'll lean over backwards and then contort themselves into pretzels in order to pretend that a half-truth from some democrat is just as bad. Because both sides are equally as bad.

2012-07-26 04:00:46 AM

I think that if the amount of taxes you pay is in your Top 10 of worries, you must have a pretty easy life.

2012-07-26 04:12:17 AM
You mean people actually have to pay a little more to help pay down the deficit? Especially the people who have benefited the most from economic policies? HOLD THE PRESSES

Majick Thise: So a bunch of people who make a lot more than I do will pay a little more in taxes....

Because you and everyone else will have no incentive to work hard and climb the social ladder if moving up a tax bracket means you'll be paying more taxes.

This is what republicans actually believe.

For the amount of services we get, our effective tax rate is extraordinarily low.

Therefore, I don't care.

I am getting really farking tired of these assholes and their whining. We are in a terrible position thanks to the policies of... well all politicians, but the unpaid wars and tax cuts for the rich put us in a huge hole. My FSM... they aren't even hiding it from the public anymore. And yet people will still vote for them.

Not to threadjack, but why did you bring up race? You don't actually think Congress wouldn't try to lay blame on the incumbent, opposition president if he was white? Hell, the Dems would do it to the Cons if the positions were reversed. It's just the old "wasn't-me, wasn't-me, wasn't-me!" schoolyard games they play.
