He hasn't earned his intials!

It's not like his nickname is Superman, or Badass. It's just his intials plus the fact that he is the 3rd.

2012-07-25 02:24:19 PM
Osi had to work really hard to get his nick name but he earned it.

2012-07-25 02:26:21 PM
I doubt this anything more than Osi just trying to get in the head of a rookie that he will play agianst atleast twice a year.

There's no "earning" a nickname unless it extolls player skill to some extent, or is on-its-face cool anyway.

Crazylegs suggested something about running ability. The Bus suggests an unstoppable, high speed force. The Snake is, well, a pretty sweet nickname. LT is initials. RGIII is initials. They aren't "nicknames".

Yeah, he had to really bear down and put out some effort.

if he is a starter in the nfl he is rg3, if he is a backup he is robert griffin, and if he is a complete and total bust he is dan snyder mistake #842

so this should just work itself out

Hmmm...I would have never thought that 3.9 YPG makes a person "unstoppable". I don't think Bettis earned his nickanme either.

Adidas seems to disagree with you, but if you wish to do so, be my guest.

I was kinda hoping he'd extrapolate a little further and go down a road of saying "and since when has Prince Amukamara earned the name 'Prince'? He was hurt most of last year" and then it would get real awkward in the room.

2012-07-25 02:38:43 PM
..because the 'skins -already- have a QB with the initials "RG III"

One of my favorite stat line he ever had was 5 carries, 1 yard, 3 TD's

I assume most jokes about Prince are just reciting lines from Coming to America. I know that's what my friends and I do whenever his name is mentioned.

if Bosworth was The Boz then Bob Griffin is RG3

2012-07-25 02:51:14 PM
It is kind of a dumb moniker anyway. I'd want to be called something better than my initials. Maybe he should try "The Dreadlocked Assassin" or something like that.

/nah that's lame too

He wasn't unstoppable by any means, but he definately earned his nickname. If it helps put this in context, the play was at the 1 yard line.

This is definately just Usi getting into his head. Nothing to get hyped up about.

He's guaranteed $21 million over the next 4 years, he can call himself "Sir Meatsalot of Suckmydickopolis" if he wants as long as he puts up $21 million numbers.

For some reason this reminded me of one of the best football quotes in the history of football quotes-

"Coach, if you need one yard, I'll get you three yards. If you need five yards, I'll get you three yards."- Leroy Hoard

He earned it by being afraid to fly.

No shiat. Think of all the people who have played running back in the NFL. How many of them have more rushing yards than Bettis? Five. And it ain't because he was fast. What's a *********** got to do to earn his nickname around here?

Damn, I had no idea that Bettis averaged 3.9 yards per game! How the hell did he end up sixth all-time in rushing yards?

He played a long time and had a lot of carries. He was also pretty lucky with injuries, especially for a fat guy.

LOL at buses being high speed. He wasn't known for great speed, it was because he was a big guy.

You're right. He should have been called "The Bus That Wouldn't Slow Down".

I'm not splitting hairs genius, you're just wrong. Buses aren't high speed. They are slow, heavy pieces of equipment that carry a lot of momentum. If one of them hits something (follow me here, kinda like in football) they're probably gonna knock it back or out of the way. Sort of like Jerome Bettis. He wasn't fast, he was just heavy and used his momentum and weight to power over people.

2012-07-26 09:12:40 AM
Bettis was actually pretty darn quick and nimble in his Rams days.

It does if almost everytime they put you in - the D stacks their line...your team only needs 1 yd....and you still average 3.9 yds!
