How does Oatmeal wind up on the Politics tab?

Ya know, that's a very strange sentence if you didn't have the context.

"I think you're going to hell" isn't necessarily hateful, because typically implied in that statement is an invitation to join that particular religion. But the onus is on the person saying it to be loving and compassionate to that person, and to society as a whole, in other ways.

Also, why should anyone keep their religion to themselves? No, you don't need to bring it up all the time and you should never bring it up again to a particular person if they ask you to cease and desist. But, as athiest Penn Jillett correctly pointed out, if you sincerely think most of the world is going to burn for eternity, the most loving thing you can possibly do is warn them about it.

But when the one true God commands you to spread His word and by converting people you are actually helping them because you are saving their eternal souls (which is probably way more important than the small amount of time spent on Earth in a physical body) then you would suck at religion by not doing that, wouldn't you?

Well, I have to say, my voting behavior is based on my religious beliefs: I don't really believe in anything, so I prefer to vote for candidates who don't take political positions based on religious grounds.

/funny that way.

It's interesting, however anytime The Oatmeal does a lengthy cartoon it will usually begin to have some logic flow problems. They do make a valiant effort at putting the issue in some context, though.
